Mill Cottage is in the Devon village of Haccombe, in a peaceful location close to Dartmoor National Park and also the South Devon Coastal Path. Your nearest neighbour is the owner, who organises bespoke Triathlon Coaching, utilising miles of trails and roads for running and cycling, and beaches for open water swimming. Maidencombe and Teignmouth beaches are within striking distance of the Cottage. This one-bedroom holiday cottage is a fantastic place for anyone who enjoys being outdoors and active to have a self-catering holiday. Yet the quiet location is also ideal for those searching for respite from the noise, traffic and stress you experience in your daily life. Whether booking a romantic holiday for two or a solo retreat, every day starts with a beautiful view when you stay at Mill Cottage. A young baby/child can also be accommodated, prior notice being obtained with the owner.
Haccombe is a pretty hamlet, with a 12th Century church positioned at the top of the valley, and is loved by locals, but off the radar of most South Devon tourist attractions. "Combe" is an old English word for a small valley, perfectly describing this peaceful place. It's only 1.5 miles from Newton Abbot, so you're within easy reach of shops, pubs and restaurants and less than two miles from the Teignmouth estuary, via Netherton. Build your appetite for a hearty meal with a half-hour walk to The Wild Goose, one of many country pubs within a few miles of Mill Cottage. Sainsburys/Aldis are located within two miles of Mill Cottage.
The beautiful beaches of the English Riviera are only eight miles from Haccombe. Torquay, Paignton and Broadsands are south, while Ness Cove and Dawlish are north of the hamlet. It's only a short drive to favourite attractions like the English Riviera Wheel, Paignton Zoo, Kents Cavern and Prehistoric Caves, and National Trust Killerton House and Gardens and Compton Castle. Bring your bike or hire one locally, book a guided pony trek on Dartmoor, play golf, or pack a picnic to enjoy in a quiet place with uninterrupted views over the water or the countryside. Dartmouth, Totnes, Exeter and Plymouth are also excellent places to visit for a day out.
Mill Cottage is excellent if you can only escape for a few days of respite or you have more time to spend in the area. Either way, the setting will leave you feeling inspired and invigorated. Should you require anything before, or during your stay, the owner is available with the cottage being adjacent to the main house. The cottage is yours for the duration of your stay, and the owner is wishing to make your stay enjoyable and memorable.
