Independent Cottages was launched by Sarah and Steve Jarvis in 2006. Since then the company has grown to promote over 2,250 properties, developed an impressive owner management platform and had huge website traffic growth. Because of these reasons the company became part of the Snaptrip family in March 2022 when we were acquired by the Snaptrip Group.

The Snaptrip Group was founded in April 2014, as Snaptrip, a marketplace for people to discover the best last minute cottage holiday deals in the UK, was launched. Since then we've grown and the group now contains over 8 sites and counting, receiving over 15 million visitors a year - however our mission has always remained the same, to make taking a staycation easy and affordable for everybody.

The Snaptrip Group remains a small team of 30, and we wanted Independent Cottages to become part of our group as we wanted to work closer with owners and continue the way Sarah and Steve ran the business, including their 5 main aims:

1. To allow owners of self catering accommodation to promote their properties independently.
2. To provide a simple annual fee-based service, without commission charges or booking fees.
3. To protect holidaymakers against fraudulent listings by ensuring the identity of new owners.
4. To put the holidaymaker in direct contact with the property owner by providing a reliable, easy-to-use website with a large choice of holiday accommodation throughout the United Kingdom.
5. To provide a facility for promoting late availability / last minute offers to holidaymakers who are looking to get away at short notice for a last minute break.

By enabling holidaymakers to book directly with owners and benefit from last minute offers we hope to make good on our mission.

However, whilst we want to ensure holidaymakers benefit from a good experience, it’s also imperative that our owner partners benefit from great service and excellent value for money. Obviously our primary aim is to make sure that enquiries increase for our owners and we aim to apply the same knowledge and techniques that generate over 20 million website visitors to our group websites to continue to grow Independent Cottages’ traffic. We also provide a wealth of useful information for cottage owners and people thinking of entering the holiday letting market via our Blog; along with plenty of tips and holiday inspiration for holidaymakers.

Researching and booking holidays online is now an accepted and commonplace norm and we aim to assist in this process by providing a collection of independently owned holiday accommodation to suit everyone's needs. Whether our visitors are looking for a budget holiday or a couple of nights of luxury, we have a wide range of accommodation to suit all tastes and budgets, including child friendly, pet friendly and wheelchair accessible accommodation.

Please note that we are purely an online advertising resource and we do not inspect or visit the properties advertised on our website. However, we do verify that owners are who they say they are in order to protect against fraudulent listings. All enquiries and bookings are made directly through the property owner/manager and any contractual agreement is between the holiday maker and the property owner/manager.
