Jersey

Sunset at Noirmont on Jersey

Jersey, the largest of the Channel Islands, is renown for its large sandy beaches and spectacular coastal walking trails. It’s not surprising that the soft sand and safe swimming at St Brelade’s Bay makes it a popular spot to catch some rays. Alternatively, explore some of the more remote secluded coves, try your hand at water-skiing or catch some Atlantic waves. When you are done with the sand between your toes, spend an afternoon in the delightful capital city of St Helier where you can enjoy some retail therapy in the boutique shops or a sundowner in one of the trendy cocktail bars. Any foodies should treat themselves to a feast in one of the Michelin-starred restaurants, whilst a trip to Mont Orgueil Castle, which overlooks the pretty fishing village of Gorey, is a must for anyone interested in Jersey’s heritage.

Petit Port Cave in Guernsey

Guernsey, the more southerly of the two main Channel Islands, is also a haven for beach lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. Enjoy a day on the water on board a kayak or paddleboard, or adventurous souls can appreciate Guernsey’s rugged coastline on a coasteering trip. If rock climbing, cliff jumping and swimming in caves isn’t for you, there are plenty of more relaxed ways to spend your holiday. Take a stroll along the stunning coastal paths, explore the quiet back roads, or embrace the island’s rich cultural heritage.

You can’t miss a trip to the charming capital city of St Peter’s Port, which is set against the striking 800 year old Cornet Castle. Immerse yourself into the cultural scene and browse art galleries, museums and chic shops or simply sit back with a coffee or ice cream and watch the boats bob about on the glistening harbour. Keen adventurers can also charter a yacht from here to explore the smaller islands of Sark, Herm, Alderney and Lihou.
