Where to Stay in North Devon

Whether you are looking for a bucket and spade day with the family, to catch some of the best waves in the country or enjoy a leisurely swim you will be spoilt for choice with the fantastic beaches in North Devon. Often voted one of the best beaches in the UK, Woolacombe is a popular spot for surfing as well as enjoying the large stretch of golden sands. Saunton Sands is another great surfing spot for beginnings whilst more advanced surfers will love the challenging waves at Croyde Bay. The long sandy beach and rockpools at Westward Ho! is a great choice for families.

The Victorian seaside town of Ilfracombe, with it’s bustling harbour is a great place to stay all year round, whilst the twin villages of Lynton and Lymnouth are known for their dramatic scenery and the water-powered cliff railway that connects them. Barnstable is the largest town in north Devon and you can also access the Tarka Trail – a 180 mile footpath – from here.

Exmoor National Park has over 1000 km of footpaths and bridleways where you can explore the wild moorland, ancient woodlands and dramatic coastline whilst keeping your eyes peeled for Exmoor ponies and Red Deer.
