Nutcombe Barn has come a long way since its former days as a 18thC farm building! This beautiful stone property has been lovingly transformed into a high quality holiday cottage with space for up to six people in three comfortable en-suite bedrooms. It is in an enviable location just outside of the village of Combe Martin, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The beach is only two miles away, while Exmoor National Park starts just half a mile from the door. The cottage has the layout and all the space that families need for a relaxing self-catering holiday in Devon.
Combe Martin is breathtaking. Flanked by the highest sea cliffs in the country, The Hangman Hills, the sandy beach is in a sheltered cove and a favourite with families for its calm water that is perfect for swimming, kayaking and paddleboarding, as well as its rock pools and amenities. Equipment hire is available in the village and fishing trips can be arranged from nearby Ilfracombe. The South West Coast Path passes the beach, giving walkers panoramic sea views in all seasons. Combe Martin is steeped in history. Keep your eye out for the Pack O' Cards Inn which was built in 1626 from the proceeds of a card game with 52 windows, four floors and 13 doors on each level to represent a deck of cards.
Guests who enjoy being active will love staying at Nutcombe Holiday Cottages. North Devons' World Surfing Reserve with magnificent beaches of Woolacombe, Saunton and Croyde are just a 20 minute drive; perfect for surfers and bodyboarders alike. Not only is the cottage close to the local beach and the coastal footpath, but there are miles of beautiful trails through coast and countryside nearby. Exmoor National Park is enormous, with a varied and beautiful landscape full of plants and wildlife, including the famous Exmoor ponies, that thrive in the protected environment. It is also a designated Dark Sky Reserve so expect the skies above Nutcombe Barn to be a dazzling display of stars on a clear night.
There is plenty to do near Nutcombe Barn. Day trips can include sightseeing in Lynton and Lynmouth, which connect with a Victorian water-powered cliff railway. National Trust properties include Arlington Court, which houses the National Carriage Museum, Dunster Castle, and Knightshays. Spend a peaceful few hours wandering around the cliff-top village of Clovelly, or admiring the plants and flowers at Marwood Hill Gardens and RHS Rosemoor. Local attractions include Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park and Exmoor Zoo. The Milky Way Adventure Park and The Big Sheep are also popular attractions for children and are approximately an hour away by car.
In addition to Nutcombe Barn, the owners have two other cottages on site which can be booked together to accommodate extended families or friends. Please see their website for more information on all holiday cottages available.
