About Apple Loft

Apple Loft is a special place; light, spacious and a touch romantic with an eclectic mix of vintage furnishings and contemporary fittings that include a deep slipper bath to relax in at the end of a day’s exploring.

The open plan accommodation has been carefully designed to give you privacy as well as far reaching views over the surrounding gently rolling Blackdown Hills (National Landscape).  Whatever the weather, or the season, you can enjoy them from the comfort of the sofa or sitting on the glass fronted balcony.

You’d be forgiven for thinking that you are miles from anywhere, but you’re not! Within minutes of leaving one of the main routes into the West Country you exchange the pressures of everyday life for a gentler more relaxed pace found here in the little known Blackdown Hills in East Devon. There are walks in all directions from the front door and a particular favourite goes by the river, across the fields and along the backwater tracks to Upottery village where there is a friendly pub.

From Apple Loft it is easy to discover the many attractions on offer in Devon, nearby Dorset and Somerset. Within a 30 minute drive, give or take a few minutes, you can be on a beach along the Jurassic Coast (Lyme Regis as a suggestion), exploring a National Trust property or beautiful garden, or soaking up the history of the cathedral city of Exeter. If you enjoy walking you can access the South Coastal Path or, slightly further afield, make a day of it and visit Dartmoor and Exmoor.  Food and drink sourced from West Country producers can be bought locally from farm shops and markets and is served in many restaurants and pubs near us.

Offering the perfect blend of style and country charm, Apple Loft sleeps two guests and comprises:

Ground floor

  • Front door leads into a private lobby area with plenty of space for storing boots, coats etc and stairs that take you up to ....

First floor

  • Open-plan with four distinct areas: The lounge has comfy seating, flat screen Smart TV, radio, electric 'log effect' stove and large French doors which allow the stunning scenery to come flooding in and provide access to the balcony - the perfect place for a sundowner; Galley kitchen equipped with dishwasher, microwave, electric oven/hob, fridge, freezer and a Nespresso coffee machine; Dining table and two chairs to the side of the galley kitchen; Romantic sleeping area with attractive cast iron double bed and freestanding slipper bath for those who enjoy indulging in a long soak at the end of the day.
  • En-suite shower room with fabulous rain shower, WC and wash basin.

Outside areas: The balcony off the living area provides the perfect place to sit and soak up the stunning views of the Blackdown Hills, there is also a meadow which guests are welcome to use and enjoy. Off-road parking and EV charger on site.

Additional information: The laundry facilities are housed in a separate communal laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer (charge applies). Unfortunately no dogs in this apartment but dogs are accepted by arrangement in the other cottages. Wi-Fi internet access available. Pure cotton bed linen and towels are provided along with complimentary toiletries. Heating and electricity included in the price. Short breaks available all year round. Strictly no smoking.
