Living
Weathervane Cottage has retained the exposed beams, stonework and even a row of old wooden pegs from its former days as a milking parlour. Being single storey, and with a large open plan living and eating area, it provides a very comfortable home from home for a mix of generations, family or group of friends.
Within just minutes of leaving one of the main routes into the South West, you swap the pressures of everyday life for a gentler more relaxed pace found in the little known beautiful Blackdown Hills, National Landscape, located in East Devon - a place where tranquil countryside, superb walking and locally produced foods are plentiful.
From here it is easy to discover the many attractions on offer in Devon, nearby Dorset and also Somerset which include beachcombing at Sidmouth, fossil hunting on the Jurassic coast at Lyme Regis, many National Trust properties and beautiful gardens in the area and the historic cathedral city of Exeter to name just a few. For those who enjoy walking the area offers plenty of choices from gentle strolls directly from the front door to more challenging all day hikes - why not explore the South Coastal Path, Dartmoor or Exmoor - all within easy reach by car.
Twistgates Farm offers three pretty beamed self-catering cottages (Weathervane Cottage is featured here) each with a wood burner for extra cosiness all year round, and, just for one couple, the stylish Apple Loft accommodation.
If you need an extra bedroom or have guests who want to join you for part, or all, of your holiday the twin bedded ground floor Orchard Guest Suite (adjacent to the cottage) can be hired on a nightly basis. Full details on owner’s website www.twistgatesfarm.co.uk
