Old Chapel is just made for couples who appreciate modern conveniences and want a coastal holiday. Ideally located within strolling distance of the beach in the Devon seaside village of Shaldon the cottage has a mezzanine bedroom and is stylish and contemporary throughout. It is only a short level walk from village centre with great pubs and restaurants such as the Shipwrights Arms.
Shaldon is a fantastic holiday destination at any time of year. The River Teign is hugely popular with boating enthusiasts. Shaldon Beach is ideal for swimming, sailing, kayaking and paddle boarding. Walk or cycle the short distances to Ness Cove which is entered via Smuggler's Tunnel, believed to be used at a time when the shape of the coastline and cliffs with their nooks and crannies made this part of Devon a smuggling hotspot. Shaldon Botanical Gardens are a lovely place for a leisurely stroll or keep going until you reach Shaldon Wildlife Trust which cares for endangered species of animals. Shaldon Golf Course overlooks Ness Cove and Babbacombe Bay and welcomes visitors.
Take a ferry trip across the river to Teignmouth where there are more amenities and a good choice of pubs offering live music in the evenings. Continue north along the coastline to reach Dawlish, Dawlish Warren and Sidmouth, or turn south to visit the beautiful English Riviera with towns and beaches that include Torquay, Torbay and Paignton which all have sandy beaches and a traditional seaside resort feel with their piers, harbours and promenades.
The South West Coast Path is popular with ramblers who appreciate the spectacular views. Dartmoor National Park is only a short drive away, offering more footpaths as well as off-road cycling trails for mountain bikers.
Whether you want a romantic holiday full of leisurely walks and delicious food, an action-packed break of surfing, coasteering and mountain biking, or a lazy holiday sitting beside the water, Old Chapel is an excellent choice at any time of the year.
