About York Lodge West

York Lodge West boasts a fantastic location and incredible views of Torbay and Lyme Bay from an elevated position near Berry Head in Brixham. It has three large bedrooms that can sleep up to six people, and lots of room for socialising indoors and outside, so it is ideal for families or friends. The owner's choice of furnishings makes it feel like a welcoming home-away-from-home, helping guests to relax and settle in immediately.

Brixham is such a great choice for a holiday at any time of the year, not only in the summer. The English Riviera benefits from a mild, sunny climate, so it's almost always a good day for the beach, and it doesn't get the high number of visitors that can make nearby Paignton and Torquay feel a bit crowded at the height of the summer. From the house, you can walk around beautiful Berry Head Nature Reserve, admiring panoramic views over the English Channel. Breakwater Beach and the Shoalstone swimming pool - an outdoor seawater pool - are family-friendly with excellent amenities. Alternatively, drive, cycle or walk (via the South West Coastal Path) the two miles to Broadsands Beach, or nearby Fishcombe, Elberry or Churston coves.

Local attractions are plentiful and include the Golden Hind, the Western Lady Ferry to Torquay, Kents Cavern, Paignton Zoo, and Splashdown Quaywest. Explore via the South West Coast Path and the Dartmouth Steam Railway, wander around stately homes like Coleton Fishacre or Greenway, or shop browse the shops in Totnes and Dartmouth. Guests can play golf, sail along the River Dart or marvel at the tiny details in the Model Village. The English Riviera also has an excellent calendar of festivals, markets and other events, so check before you travel to see what's on.

As a holiday destination, Brixham appeals to everyone from young children to grandparents, from families to couples and friends. There is always something fun to do, a fantastic array of places to eat and drink, beautiful beaches and stunning views.

Accommodation Comprises:

York Lodge West is on two floors with unobstructed views across Torbay from its elevated position.

Downstairs:

  • Large entrance hall where you can hang outdoor clothing.
  • Massive kitchen with a table that seats six people, and electric oven with a gas stove, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, coffee machine, and all the crockery, cutlery and utensils you need for six people. The windows have views of Torbay.
  • Next to the kitchen, the conservatory also has far-reaching views towards Torbay. It's a lovely place to sit with a drink to read a book or watch the boats in the harbour. Glass doors open onto the terrace and let in lots of natural light.
  • Family bedroom with a kingsize (5ft-wide) bed plus bunk beds. The room has good storage, a TV with a DVD player and opens onto a small courtyard.
  • Family bathroom with a bath, separate shower, WC and a handbasin. A utility cupboard houses a washer/dryer.

Upstairs:

  • Spacious living room with fantastic sea views, lots of relaxed seating and a Smart TV with a DVD player, along with Bluetooth connectivity. There are multi-aspect windows and glass doors that open onto the balcony.
  • Master bedroom with a king-sized bed and good storage. The room benefits from a deck and an ensuite with a shower, WC and a handbasin.
  • Twin room with two single beds and a rail for hanging up clothing.

Outside: There is a barbecue available for use on the front terrace and a stone table and seats where you can eat while enjoying the fantastic views. The rear deck also enjoys enviable views over the water towards Torbay, with garden furniture. There is off-street parking for two cars in the garage and on the driveway.

Additional Information: All utilities, Wifi, bed linen and bath towels are provided. Guests to supply beach towels. The entrance to the house is up a steep driveway and a steep flight of steps that is not suitable for people who use a wheelchair or who have other mobility issues. Smoking is not permitted. Travel cot available. Not suitable for wheelchair users or anybody with walking difficulties.
