Hornbeam is a lovely Devon holiday home a few miles from the M5, in the quiet village of Rackenford and within walking distance of the village shop and 13th-Century pub The Stag Inn which is open for meals at weekends. It is one of two similar properties on a family-run smallholding where the owners grow as much of their own food as possible. Hornbeam has one bedroom and is perfect for a couple's escape or a solo retreat where guests can relax surrounded by beautiful views.
Rackenford's central location makes it ideal for a Devon holiday as its so easy to get to everything. Start exploring from the doorstep by following the Two Moors Way or following some of the suggested walks the owner has left with maps in the cottage. The Knowstone Moors are nearby, where a wealth of flora and fauna, including red deer and 28 species of butterflies, thrive in the diverse landscape. Once you've had your fill of the local scenery, then it's only a short drive to get to Exmoor and Dartmoor, where countless miles of footpaths, mountain bike trails, bridleways and country roads give you access to these incredible landscapes, both of which are protected by national park status.
A day walking along the South West Coast Path or sunning yourself at the beach is a simple matter of driving 40 minutes to Bideford and Westward Ho! on the north coast or a little further to Sidmouth on the south coast. Lyme Regis and the Jurassic Coast are around an hour drive from Hornbeam, as is the popular resort of Minehead on the Somerset coast.
Go shopping for self-catering supplies in the market town of Tiverton, where there is a good choice of places to eat, drink and shop, as well as a castle, leisure centre and a cinema. Walk along the Grand Western Canal or around the gardens of National Trust Knightshayes Court, or spend a happy day exploring the cathedral city of Exeter, eating and sightseeing in Taunton, and shopping in Barnstaple's indoor Victorian pannier markets or South Moulton's twice-weekly markets.
Hornbeam is one of two comfortable holiday lets at Broad Close Farm. Depending on availability, they can be booked together to accommodate six people for holidays with extended families and friends.

Hornbeam is a charming self-catering apartment with everything guests need at their fingertips. The living space is open plan.
Outside: Hornbeam has a private enclosed patio and sole access to a further fenced garden with lovely rural views. Garden furniture and a barbeque are provided. There is off-street parking and secure storage for bikes.
Additional Information: Utilities, WiFi, bed linen and towels are all included. Guests to provide beach towels Both properties at Broad Close Farm are non-smoking. One well-behaved dog is welcome in Hornbeam through prior arrangement with the owner.
