About Beaconside Estate

Beaconside Estate offers a wonderful selection of four holiday cottages and an impressive large self-catering house, set amidst beautiful countryside in North Devon within easy reach of an abundance of attractions. Perfectly situated, the holiday retreats sit on a private estate of some twenty five acres close to Bideford, the beautiful beach at Instow, the picturesque fishing village of Appledore, and Westward Ho! with its glorious golden sands.

Both the cottages and Beaconside House with its Victorian charm are the perfect choice for the discerning traveller and provide a superb venue for large gatherings of family and friends. A bespoke tailor-made service (see owners website for full details) is offered for those celebrating a special occasion and Beaconside Estate is licensed and a popular choice for weddings of up to one hundred and fifty guests.

Baytree Cottage is the smallest and sweetest of them all sleeping two guests - the perfect romantic retreat. Both Goodison Cottage and The Lodge sleep six guests and Stackstead Cottage is just slightly smaller sleeping five. When hired together, larger parties of up to forty can be accommodated in comfort.

The estate offers everything you could need, whether you're away on a summer family holiday or weekend away with friends celebrating, including two heated pools (one indoors and one out allowing you to enjoy the warmer months); plenty of recreational space with facilities; and a large hot tub for relaxing.

For those who can tear themselves away from the estate, there are plenty of great days out in the local area. Visit one of the gorgeous golden beaches, Dartington Crystal, RHS Rosemoor for garden lovers, or for the younger ones, The Big Sheep and The Milky Way theme parks which are perfect for having fun in any weather. For golfers, the Royal North Devon Golf Club is within easy reach or take a boat trip to see the seals and colonies of puffins on Lundy Island - the choices are plentiful.

Dating back to the 1850's, Beaconside Country House (featured in this advert) is a spacious Victorian residence which affords immense character including high ceilings and large open fireplaces.

Sleeping up to nineteen guests, accommodation comprises:

  • Spacious sitting room with spectacular views over the private terrace and rolling countryside beyond, comfy seating, lovely open fireplace and baby grand piano for a good old fashioned sing along.
  • Dining room with table and chairs seating eighteen in comfort and style with impressive open fireplace - a wonderful room for a celebratory meal (local chefs can be recommended to cater for you).
  • Fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, range cooker with two Gas ovens, washing machine, tumble dryer, fridge and freezer.
  • Television room with Sky digital, DVD and Hi-Fi system.
  • Eight large bedrooms which all afford lovely views. Four rooms are en-suite doubles, three are twins (one being en-suite) and there is one double plus one twin bedroom which each have an extra single bed, each sleeping three.
  • Two family bathrooms (for those rooms that are not en-suite).

Outside: Nestling amongst beautiful grounds, guests have a terraced area with BBQ and seating for eighteen - this area offers complete privacy and undisturbed views over the rolling countryside.

Onsite facilities include: Heated indoor and outdoor swimming pools; tennis court; games room; private fishing on the River Torridge (two minutes away by car and tidal); children's play area (with trampoline); Croquet lawn and woods to explore.

Additional information - Pets are welcome for an additional small charge. Prices are fully inclusive. Short breaks may be available.

Group bookings: Parties of up to forty guests can be accommodated in five holiday homes. Beaconside House has a fantastic dining room that can seat twenty three guests but larger parties can be seated if tables and chairs are set up in the long hall. Outside catering can be arranged.
