About The Farmhouse

The Farmhouse is a luxurious rural holiday home on a family-run farm in Catterick in Yorkshire. It's beautifully furnished for groups of up to eight people to sleep in four bedrooms, with a double sofa bed to accommodate two more. The self-catering holiday rental is accessible to guests who use a wheelchair and is child and pet-friendly. Catch up with extended family and friends in a peaceful location with panoramic countryside views and fantastic footpaths and cycling routes accessible from the door. It's wonderfully tranquil yet convenient for the A1, Richmond, York, Harrogate and Durham, putting lots of options for shopping, sightseeing and dining out within easy reach.

Catterick started as a Roman fort, Cateractonium, built to defend the point where they crossed the River Swale. Today, it's a pretty village with a green, a late-medieval church, pubs and a village shop. The racecourse has been a focal point of thoroughbred racing in Yorkshire since 1783. A day at the races here is always fun, especially if you win! Walkers love the variety of footpaths, including a 2.5 mile circular route through Colburn Beck Wood. The house is midway between the North York Moors National Park and the Yorkshire Dales National Park, giving endless scope for hiking, mountain biking, climbing and caving.

Places to visit include Richmond Castle, a magnificent fortification built in 1071. Middleham and Bolton Castles are close by, as is Easby Abbey. The Aysgarth Falls are a famous beauty spot in Wensleydale. Leave the car at Scrunton and climb aboard the Wensleydale Railway for beautiful views at a gentle pace. Go shopping in Harrogate and sightseeing in York. Both places have a wide choice of places to eat and drink, including Betty's historic Tea Rooms. There is nothing like a Yorkshire high tea when you need refuelling after a busy day!

The Farmhouse at Tunstall Road Farm is a newly built detached house with private enclosed gardens and accommodation over two levels.

Downstairs:

  • Open plan living fosters a relaxed, social atmosphere downstairs. The seating area has a big leather corner sofa, upholstered wing-back armchairs, a fireplace with a wood burner, and a wall-mounted Smart TV. Underfloor heating ensures guests are cosy in winter. A large glass door slides open onto the patio and gives uninterrupted views over fields.
  • The dining area is another beautiful space flowing seamlessly between the kitchen and the living room for effortless entertaining. Glass doors frame great views and let in lots of natural light. The table seats ten.
  • A fitted kitchen is well-equipped with all you need for self-catering, apart from the food. You can have a supermarket deliver your groceries, but we recommend shopping at Richmond market and getting your meat straight from the owners. Appliances include a large modern range, a huge fridge/freezer, and a dishwasher.
  • A second living room or snug has a sofa that opens into a double sofa bed.
  • A handy cloakroom off the entrance hallway is furnished with a family-sized washing machine and tumble dryer. It also has a cloakroom with a WC and a handbasin.

Upstairs:

  • A beautiful white king-sized bed, Smart TV, built-in storage, and tranquil views make the main bedroom a place to relax. It features an ensuite with a shower, heated towel rail, WC and a handbasin.
  • Bedroom Two is also furnished with fresh white furniture and has a double bed and an ensuite shower room.
  • Bedroom Three is a spacious twin with two single beds and an ensuite shower room.
  • Bedroom Four has a double bed and views over the garden and fields.
  • The family bathroom has a shower, bath, WC and a handbasin.

Outside, The Farmhouse has a patio with a hot tub and outdoor seating. There is an enclosed lawn and off-street parking.

Additional Information: Utilities, WiFi, bed linen and bath towels are included. Well-behaved pets are welcome. Smoking is not allowed.
