Granary Cottage is an idyllic country bolthole in a peaceful location just outside of Snainton near Pickering. The cottage sleeps four people in two bedrooms, with beautiful views of the North York Moors. It is ideal for couples and friends who can walk to the traditional Coachman Inn village pub, and families will enjoy being close to some of the area’s favourite attractions.
Snainton is a picturesque Yorkshire village in the Vale of Pickering and close to the beautiful Tabular Hills. It is only a few miles from Pickering, Malton and Scarborough, yet feels wonderfully remote and unspoiled. As well as a great pub, the village also has a popular fish and chip shop, a village store and a traditional butcher that sells produce reared nearby.
A 15-minute drive from the cottage, the historic market town of Pickering offers everything else you could need for your self-catering holiday, including a choice of places to eat and drink if you feel like eating out. Pickering is known as the Gateway to the North Yorkshire Moors and has an excellent tourist information centre and a busy independent bike shop where you can hire bikes if you do not have your own. The Pickering Steam Railway, Pickering Castle and the North Yorkshire Water Park are all great for kids. The Ryedale Folk Museum and the Jorvik Viking Centre are fascinating, or you can immerse yourself in a different era at Castle Howard. Alternatively, spend your day shopping and sightseeing in the ancient city of York.
If you have never visited the area before, then you may be surprised at just how breathtaking the North York Moors are. Raw, rugged beauty greets you at nearly every turn, and it is impossible to resist the temptation to explore outdoors. Granary Cottage is ideally located to give easy access to some of the area’s best footpaths and cycling routes, starting with the five-mile circular route to the neighbouring village of Brompton. Newton Wood is lovely in spring when delicate bluebells carpet the woodland floor, or why not discover Dalby Forest or the romantic ruins of Rievaulx Terrace. Being just a ten-minute drive from Scarborough and 30 minutes from Whitby means you can also enjoy a walk along the beautiful Yorkshire coastline.
After a full day of exploring, you can return to Granary Cottage and enjoy a glass of wine on the private patio in summer, or stretched out on the sofa in front of the open fire in winter. Granary Cottage is one of two exceptional holiday cottages on the site of a century-year-old granary. It can be booked on its own or hired together with Stables Cottage to accommodate larger groups. More information is available on the owner’s website.

A spacious expanse of lawn is perfect for children to play. This area is shared with guests in The Stable Cottage. There is off-street parking for two cars. Guests have access to undercover bicycle storage.
