Swale View is a very comfortable detached stone cottage overlooking Swaledale and the Three Sisters. Suitable for families, couples, friends and above all dogs. Sleeping five people in three bedrooms, king, double and single, we love to have dogs visit with up to 3 staying. Maybe 4 if you think they will fit in and get along ok.
If you are looking for great walks or bicycle routes direct from your front door you will not be dissapointed.
We are a stone's throw away from the Swale Trail, Coast to Coast and the Pennine Way is just up the road.
Fortunately there are routes suitable for all ages and fitness levels. Whether its an amble along the Swale Trail or a tough climb over Buttertubs Pass you can pick your own levels.
Bike hire, electric, mountain and road, are available from the smashing Dales Bike Centre just outside Reeth.
The small village of Reeth is a 5 minute drive away, walkable as well, with shops, pubs, two bakeries and a lovely local market on Friday morning.
We are situated about a 5 minute scenic walk from the Punchbowl Inn whose food and drinks we really do rate and recommend. And on a Friday evening the fish and chip van stops outside so if you fancy a takeaway you are well catered for.
If you are looking for scenic views then they start in the village and extend up the valley towards Muker, Thwaite and Keld.
Watch out for the lambs in Spring and of course the spectacular flower meadows in Summer.
And no trip to Swaledale is complete without taking in one of the many waterfalls. Wild swimming is positively encouraged! You could even join the village ladies who take a dip each Saturday morning, come rain, snow or shine!
And as we are in a dark skies area you can watch out for the aurora borealis which can often been seen.
Swale View is the perfect base for a chilled out family holiday, if such a thing exists, and also for friends who are looking for something more active.
And for dog lovers who want to be able to relax knowing that staying at Swale View you let can them go wherever you want them to. Muddy paws and all!

Accommodation Layout
Swale View is a detached two storey stone house built in about 1750 now loosely modernised with contemporary country styling and with views over the valley from both house and garden
Downstairs
A fully fitted hand built oak kitchen with Belfast sink, dishwasher, washing machine, large American style Aga fridge freezer with ice maker, microwave and a two oven range cooker with induction hob.
The Living Room has an inglenook fireplace, perfect for a cozy evening in front of the log and coal fire and smart TV. A leather sofa is ideal for your furry friends and there is also a leather chair and a large love seat.
A separate dining room off the kitchen has a table that seats up to 10 people. It also has a multi fuel stove for creating a lovely cozy warm space.
There is a secure porch with hanging space for jackets and a heated clothes rack to dry out your walking gear.
Garden
Walk directly out of the kitchen french doors into a small enclosed and secure garden. A table and bench enable outdoor eating and bbqs with brilliant views. Ideal for letting the dogs out as well.
Upstairs
There are three bedrooms, a King size, Queen and Single sleeping up to 5 people. The Queen room has its own washbasin.
All bedrooms face over the valley and have lovely views. Listen out for the owls and woodpeckers.
The family bathroom is a shower over bath with strong water pressure and hot water on demand. You will not run out no matter how long you spend in the bath after a long day of walking. There is also a hand basin and WC.
Additional Information
There is parking for a small car directly outside the house and additional parking on the private road used to access the house.
We have fibre broadband, logs and coal are provided to get you started if you would like a fire and all bedding and towels are provided.
There is a garage for secure storage of bikes, canoes, paddleboards etc
