About 2 Hollies Cottages

2 Hollies Cottages offers cosy, home from home facilities comprising a lounge with wood effect floor, a feature fireplace with log burning stove (logs provided), 3 piece suite, occasional tables, TV/DVD, rug. The newly fitted kitchen /dining room is well stocked with everything for your stay, with pine table and seating for up to 6 people, and ample under-stair storage. There is a WC/handbasin downstairs.

The first floor comprises a twin bedroom with 3' pine twin beds, and a master bedroom with king size bed, both with adequate wardrobe space /chest of drawers/lamps/occasional chair. All beds have 2 pillows per person, duvets and throws, with all linen and towels provided.

The bathroom is spacious with an electric shower with boost over the bath. All towels/toilet rolls are provided, plus some toiletries.

On the second floor, accessed via a staircase is the loft room which provides a double sofa bed as an additional sleeping area if required, or just an extra living room with TV to escape the sports programmes or kids! There is a selection of jigsaws and games for guest use.

The rear garden area is fenced to 2 sides with a high stone wall at the rear and is quite safe for pets. It is paved, with flower beds and wooden garden furniture.

Pets are welcome - a maximum of 2 dogs unless by prior arrangement. There is no charge for pets, but you must agree to reimburse any damages caused! Dogs MAY be left unattended in the cottage for short periods, but please have respect for neighbours if your pets are inclined to bark when home alone!

Wifi is superfast broadband through Plusnet and is free of charge. Mobile phone signals may vary dependent on provider.

Storage heaters provide heating downstairs, with the log burner for additional/alternative heating. Storage heater must NOT be covered as this damages the heating element. Wet clothing can be dried on the clothes dryer in the understairs area if necessary.

Upstairs, there are convector heaters in both bedrooms and the loft room, and an electric towel rail in the bathroom.

The cottage benefits from being mid-terraced, so is always warm!

Location (The Yorkshire Dales)

I moved to Stainforth in the Yorkshire Dales 40 years ago and loved the area so much I decided to buy a cottage in the village and offer it as a holiday cottage to holidaymakers so they could appreciate the wonderful scenery and numerous walks in the surrounding countryside.

Stainforth is easily accessible and far enough away from the hustle and bustle of a busy town. It also provides a perfect base for touring the Yorkshire Dales and visiting the Lake District.

The cottage has now operated successfully for 39 years and I am delighted to note that in 2024 it had 13 returning guests, many of whom have become good friends, plus 2 recommendations from regular guests - it also has 6 returning customers for 2025 - many thanks to everyone!

There is a dog friendly local pub in the village - The Craven Heifer - with an outdoor seating area running alongside the village beck.

Stainforth offers many local walks from the cottage doorstep, with the 3 Peaks just a couple of miles away! Settle is easily reached on foot by several different routes, either along the River Ribble, or through the fields past the Lime Kiln at Langcliffe.

A lovely circular walk is from Stainforth to Feizor, with a visit to the famous Elaine's Tea Room at the half way mark!
