Perched high above the beaches on a rocky outcrop is the formidable Scarborough Castle. Whilst most of the castle is now a ruin, it is still enjoys’ spectacular views of Scarborough and the North Yorkshire coastline. Alternatively, discover more about Scarborough’s Dinosaur Coast in the Rotunda Museum. Other attractions and activities include the Sea Life Centre, the oriental themed Peasholm Park, boat trips from the harbour and Almpare Waterpark.
If you are looking for a change of scenery, the 8,000 acres of woodland at Dalby Forest the North York Moors is a fantastic spot for walking or biking. The kids can let off steam in one of the play areas or stay until nightfall and be wowed by the stunning starry skies. The seaside towns of Filey and Bridlington are also within easy reach for a day out, or visit the ancient market town of Pickering where you can enjoy the North York Moors from the comfort of a steam train and explore the medieval castle.
