One of the greatest pleasures of staying in this beautiful cottage is being able to set off by foot from the front door and explore the area. Whatever the weather, there are wonderful walks to suit all energy levels from a gentle stroll along the river to a more challenging walk up into the high fells.

The attractive Dales market town of Sedbergh is nearby and is full of character with its cobbled streets and historic houses. Recently becoming one of England's ʻbook towns' there are interesting places to browse including several antique shops. Dent is a pretty Cumbrian village, also nearby, with cobbled streets, traditional pubs and interesting art galleries. A visit to Kirkby Lonsdale is not to be missed. Touristy but unspoilt, this beautiful, small market town offers fascinating shops, excellent places to eat, glorious river-side walks and an ancient church.

All the activities of the Lake District are within easy reach including: lake sailing on Ullswater; visiting Wordsworth’s Grasmere or Beatrice Potter’s House near Hawkshead; family adventures in Grisedale Forest, or climbing up Cat Bells by glorious Derwentwater, to name just a few!
