About Lumley Cottage

Lumley Cottage sleeps three guests in two bedrooms and is ideal for couples or small families wishing to visit the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. This charming stone cottage is nicely tucked away in a quiet position within the picturesque village of Thornton-le-Dale and has been beautifully presented to provide an ideal retreat all year round. In the autumn or winter enjoy cosy nights in front of the log burner whilst watching the flames flicker and when the weather is warmer, dine outside or enjoy a glass of wine in the pretty courtyard garden.

A true Yorkshire gem, Thornton-le-Dale is not just a pretty face, it is home to a good choice of amenities within a short stroll of Lumley cottage including places to eat out and shops for purchasing groceries (including a butchers and bakery, along with the Chocolate Factory for tempting treats, a chemist and Post Office). The historic market town of Pickering offers a larger selection of amenities and is only three miles from the cottage. Why not visit and take a nostalgic scenic journey to the beautiful seaside town of Whitby on the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway - a wonderful effortless way of exploring the surrounding 'Heartbeat' landscape.

Another popular attraction on the doorstep is Dalby Forest with miles of tracks and trails to explore and a host of outdoor activities to enjoy including ‘Go Ape' for those seeking adventure with its tree top wires. Other attractions in the area include: Castle Howard, Yorkshire's most impressive country home; Wolds Way Lavender with rows and rows of stunning fragrant lavender in the summer, nature walks, a miniature railway and even a maze; Snainton Horse Riding Centre for everything equine from lessons to hacks out amongst some of Yorkshire's most stunning scenery; and the seaside towns and villages dotted along the stunning heritage coastline including popular Scarborough, scenic Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay with its family friendly beach where the little ones (and adults!) can spend the day fossil hunting.
