The Cottage at 45 Fore Street is freshly renovated and ready to welcome people who want the comforts of home in a very stylish holiday home for their holiday on the beautiful English Riviera. It is in the centre of Shaldon village, a short stroll from the beach, passenger ferry, cafes, bars, and popular pubs like the waterfront Ferry Boat Inn. The cottage sleeps six people in three bedrooms, and because it has two bathrooms, it works as well for friends as it does for families and extended families. Bookings are available all year round.
Shaldon is pretty special. Located on the western side of the River Teign, it has a sheltered beach popular for swimming, paddle-boarding, sailing and kayaking. Most businesses are independently owned and run by locals, giving them a welcoming sense of community. Don't miss the walk from Shaldon through the smuggler's tunnel to secluded Ness Cove, which is dog-friendly all year round and perfect for a sunset barbecue (apply for permission via Teignbridge District Council). Shaldon also has botanic gardens, a zoo and a golf course with incredible views - we told you this place was special!
Take the passenger ferry across the River Teign to Teignmouth for more choices of places to eat, drink and shop. There's a Victorian pier, seafront promenade, great play area, skate park and an outdoor swimming pool. Other beaches to visit include Torquay, Paignton, and Torbay. If you're feeling energetic, follow the South West Coast Path for a stretch before finding a bench to settle back with some fish and chips or locally made ice cream. The scenery inland is as impressive as the coast, with gorgeous countryside footpaths and cycling routes to help you explore. Dartmoor National Park is ten miles away, with even more scope for outdoor adventure.
It's no coincidence that the English Riviera has been such a favourite holiday destination for so many years. It has a timeless charm, natural beauty, superb amenities and friendly locals who take pride in where they live and are happy to share it with visitors who love it just as much as they do. The Cottage is a superb self-catering cottage that delivers on comfort, style and location. It has everything you and your family could wish for in a home-away-from-home. All you have to do is turn up and relax.
