About Number One Seagate

Number One Seagate is a superb seaside holiday cottage in a fantastic location on the Yorkshire coast. Tucked away behind a high wall on a quiet lane, the house is within strolling distance of the beach, shops and the traditional Ship Inn pub with its sunny beer garden, log fire, and impressive menu. You won't even want to unload the car before you're heading for the famous Sewerby Steps to start your holiday on the beach! The owners of Number One Seagate have lavished care and attention to every detail to create a stylish holiday home sleeping four people in two bedrooms with a versatile layout that is equally as popular with couples, families and friends.

Sewerby is a charming conservation village in the East Riding of Yorkshire. It's full of character with excellent amenities that include places to eat, drink and shop for groceries. Sewerby Hall and Gardens is steps away from the gate, with 50 stunning acres of woodland trails for walking and cycling, incredible gardens and - always a favourite with the kids - a zoo! Be sure to check their calendar of events before you arrive, as they frequently hold tours of the grand house, cinema evenings, and other fun activities. Walk or cycle to Flamborough to build up an appetite for the freshest crab you'll taste, straight off the boats at North Landing. Take your binoculars to RSPB Bempton Cliffs to see puffins, gannets and other sea birds. Flamborough has two lighthouses, one of which dates from 1669 and is the oldest in the UK.

Your explorations can take you to the seaside town of Bridlington, two miles from the cottage by foot or via the land train from Sewerby Hall. The long sandy beach is always popular in summer holidays, as are the contemporary beach huts that you can book in advance via the local authority. Filey is another favourite outing for guests staying at Number One Seagate, especially if seals are snoozing on the shoreline by Filey Brigg. You're not limited to the coast when you stay in Sewerby. The scenic Yorkshire Wolds are nearby with the promise of spectacular views along miles of footpaths and cycling routes. Beverley and Driffield are thriving market towns with many places to keep visitors happily occupied and fed on a day out. Other places to visit include the famous seaside resort of Scarborough and Sledmere House and Gardens.

Number One Seagate is the result of the owner's love of the Yorkshire Coast and Wolds. They searched for years to find the perfect property, then took their time restoring and renovating it to create a stylish holiday home that is comfortable with indulgent touches that make the house as appealing as the location.

Accommodation at Number One Seagate is all on one level. The cottage sits behind a high wall with enclosed landscaped gardens to the front and rear. The owners have been inspired by their love of the fresh, uncluttered Scandi style to create a holiday home that is spacious and welcoming throughout.

  • Large living room with solid wood floors and a contemporary log burner for cold weather. In summer, throw open the French doors and enjoy the additional living space the garden provides. A 50-inch Smart TV, choice of board games, and music system take care of evening entertainment.
  • Modern appliances and a timeless style is the perfect recipe. The kitchen is well-equipped with all of the appliances and utensils you'll need for a self-catering stay, including a dishwasher and a big American fridge/freezer to provide ample space to keep groceries fresh.
  • Utility space with a washer/dryer and cleaning facilities.
  • Bedroom One has a kingsize bed and views of the courtyard and the woodland beyond. There is proper storage so you can unpack and feel at home. Beds are made up for the arrival of guests using fine bed linen to make sliding into bed a welcome highlight after a busy day.
  • Bedroom Two has zip and link beds that can either be two full-sized (3ft-wide) single beds or one super-kingsize bed. Please let the owner know your preferred layout when booking.
  • Tiled family bathroom with a sleek rainfall shower, underfloor heating, a WC and a handbasin.

Outside: The cottage is fully enclosed with paved seating areas to the front and rear so that guests can move with the sun. There is a barbecue and fire pit to keep you cosy while you enjoy the spectacular stargazing opportunities. A garage provides secure storage for bicycles, paddle-boards and kayaks, and is where you'll find deckchairs, buckets, spades and other beach essentials. There is off-street parking for one car, with free parking available on the road around 30 metres from the gate.

Additional Information: Utilities, WiFi, bed linen and bath towels are included. A highchair is available. Guests to provide beach towels. One or two well-behaved dogs are welcome through prior arrangement. Short breaks are possible outside of peak season. Please contact the owner for their accessibility statement. Smoking and vaping are not permitted.
