Rose Cottage has arguably the most outstanding views of any holiday house in the Swaledale Valley. Sleeping five people in three bedrooms, the stone Yorkshire longhouse is superb from top to bottom, with loads of space for families inside and out. It's in an elevated location on the edge of Low Row within walking distance of the highly respected award-winning Punch Bowl Inn gastropub. If you want a peaceful self-catering holiday in the Yorkshire Dales with gorgeous walks from the door, easy access to fantastic cycling routes, and views for miles, you'll find it in this terrific property.
Low Row is a quiet village with a handful of houses and quite a lot of sheep. It's perfect for a walking holiday as it is on the Pennine Way and Alfred Wainwright's famous Coast to Coast footpath. You're only three miles from the larger village of Reeth and a good choice of shops, including a Friday morning market on the green, craft shops, and places to eat and drink. A wider variety of shops and amenities are in Richmond, a scenic half an hour's drive east of Rose Cottage or 45-minutes northwest in Kirkby Stephen.
As good as the shops and other amenities are, it's the landscape that draws so many people to the Yorkshire Dales. Local routes include Keld and four waterfalls along the River Swale, Aysgarth Falls, from the centre of Richmond to Hudswell Woods, Askrigg and Mill Gill Force, and the family-friendly short walk from Reeth to Grinton and Marrick Priory. Yorkshire is famous for its world-class cycling routes, punishing climbs that reward sensational views and exhilarating downhills.
Rose Cottage is perfect for your next holiday. Wake early, take to the hills, sleep late and laze around the garden. The views at night are as dazzling as those in the day, with a sky full of stars thanks to the rural location and lack of light pollution.
