Sunnyside Cottage is a welcoming holiday cottage in Grassington, tucked away just a few minutes’ walk from the village square yet enjoying open views across the surrounding Yorkshire Dales countryside. Converted from a traditional stone barn, the cottage keeps much of its original character, with exposed beams, old pine doors and a comfortable, lived-in feel that encourages guests to settle in quickly.
Sleeping up to six guests across three bedrooms, it offers plenty of space for families or small groups exploring the Dales together. There are 2 modern shower rooms upstairs so plenty of facilities for couples and friends to holiday together.
The sitting room is bright and spacious, and there’s a gas fire to keep you warm and cosy on winter evenings. Downstairs, a well-equipped kitchen and dining area provide everything needed for easy holiday cooking, while a large utility and boot room proves invaluable after days spent walking the fells or cycling the winding lanes nearby. Outside, the fully enclosed garden catches the sun for much of the day and provides a peaceful place for morning coffee or a quiet drink later on.
The garage can be used to store or charge EBikes .The lanes around Grassington are quiet so are heavenly to cycle from village to village discovering hidden away cafes for coffee and lunch !
The village itself is one of the most loved destinations in the Dales. Grassington has a long history as a market town with a traditional cobbled square that remains the heart of village life. Here you’ll find a friendly mix of independent shops, cafés and traditional pubs, including the well-known The Foresters Arms and the welcoming The Devonshire. Grassington has also gained national attention as the filming location for the recent television series All Creatures Great and Small, where it stands in for the fictional village of Darrowby. Throughout the year, the village hosts a lively calendar of events, from the Grassington Festival each summer to the popular Dickensian Christmas weekends when the streets are lit with lanterns and filled with music and market stalls. 1940 weekend September 13/14/15
Step beyond the village and the wider Yorkshire Dales National Park stretches out in every direction. Gentle riverside walks lead to the dramatic cascade at Linton Falls just outside the village, while further afield, the limestone landscapes around Malham Cove and Gordale Scar attract HIKERS from across the country. CYCYLISTS will find quiet lanes and challenging climbs throughout the area, many of which featured in the Tour de Yorkshire.
Families often enjoy visiting Kilnsey Park with its trout farm, café and nature trails, while the historic market town of Skipton lies a short drive away for castle visits, canal walks and a traditional market every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. After a day exploring, Sunnyside Cottage offers a comfortable place to return to — somewhere to relax, plan tomorrow’s route and enjoy the slower rhythm of life in the Dales.
Serious walkers can climb the 3 Peaks -Whernside ,Inglelborough and Penyghent . It’s a challenge to walk the 3 peaks in one day but its worth it !!
