About Argil Cottage

Argil Cottage is a delightful detached 4 Star Gold holiday cottage that can accommodate up to four guests in three bedrooms. In the heart of rural North Yorkshire, Argil Cottage provides a peaceful retreat and is located in a quiet, traditional hamlet in the Vale of Pickering on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. The cottage provides everything you should need to help you have an enjoyable and memorable relaxing holiday and with an open fire, it is ideal all year round.

The hamlet of Great Barugh sits in the heart of beautiful Ryedale, in between the market towns of Malton and Pickering. It is a peaceful place where you can have a taste of country life yet within easy reach of the many attractions of the area, providing plenty to see and do.

Attractions locally and within easy reach include: Eden Camp Modern History Museum which accurately recreates life in the second world war; the historic City of York with its incredible Gothic cathedral, great shops, museums and restaurants; the popular seaside town of Whitby and Scarborough on North Yorkshire's heritage coastline; Castle Howard, one of the country's finest stately homes; York Moors Railway - the perfect way to explore the moors by steam train and the local market towns of Helmsley, Kirkbymoorside, Malton and Pickering, boasting thriving weekly markets where you can stock up on wonderful local produce.

There are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy within the area. North Yorkshire is superb for mountain bikers with numerous tracks and bridleways through hidden valleys and across spectacular moors. It is also a walker's paradise with everything from a lovely riverside stroll to a long distance hike.

For those who enjoy eating out, there is a pub in Great Barugh and for a fine dining experience, why not visit the Black Swan at Oldstead which was recently awarded a Michelin Star. Alternatively, enjoy one of the finest Yorkshire teas at Betty's Team Room in York or fantastic fish and chips at Magpie's and Trencher's in Whitby.

Argil Cottage is in a perfect location for exploring the North York Moors and its 4 Star Gold rating guarantees a high quality of holiday accommodation.
