About Bramleigh

Bramleigh Cottage enjoys some of the most beautiful countryside views in South Devon. Tucked away in a peaceful spot near the village of Woodleigh, it easily sleeps four and is as comfortable for families as it is for couples being a cosy retreat all year round.

The nearest town to Bramleigh Cottage is Kingsbridge, a short drive away. The attractive market town has a wide variety of independent shops, pubs and cafes, and it is a good place to stock up with essentials as well as to buy locally produced ingredients for home-cooked meals. Kingsbridge is on the Salcombe Estuary and is a favourite destination for people who enjoy walking and sailing. Stop by the Kingsbridge Information Centre on Town Square for maps and local information that will help you make the most of your holiday.

Dartmouth, Salcombe and Totnes are all fantastic destinations for a day out and thriving communities of artists, galleries and antique shops with a wealth of excellent shops, pubs, restaurants and cafes. Plymouth is only a half-hour drive from Bramleigh Cottage, offering excellent shopping, a rich naval history and superb views. The bustling harbour area of the Barbican has numerous good places for breakfast, lunch or dinner, particularly if you have worked up a healthy appetite walking around the city and seeing the sights.

Speaking of walking, there are seemingly endless footpaths that criss-cross the countryside and hug the coast, leading walkers through lush green fields and charming villages, through the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and around the gorgeous Devon coastline. A particularly lovely walk leads from near the cottage along the River Avon, via the disused railway line, to Avon Mill Garden Centre with craft shops and an excellent cafe - a great place for a cream tea!

Devon’s most beautiful beaches are within easy reach of Bramleigh Cottage, including Hope Cove, Blackpool Sands, Thurlestone and Torcross. The Dart Valley Railway and South Devon Railways are perennial favourites, as is Paignton Zoo and Woodlands Theme Park and cruises along the River Dart and to Torbay. There are stately homes and National Trust managed properties and gardens including Agatha Christie's Greenway House and the beautiful Coleton Fishacre to visit at your leisure. With a cottage as comfortable as Bramleigh, you will be able to relax and enjoy every minute of your holiday in Devon.

Accommodation Comprises:

Bramleigh Cottage has an upside-down layout, with the kitchen and living area upstairs and the bedrooms downstairs.

Downstairs:

  • The spacious master bedroom has a double bed with bedside tables and reading lights, a tall wardrobe and a large chest of drawers to provide ample storage. Hairdryer also provided.
  • The twin bedroom has two 3ft single beds and a wardrobe unit with drawers. A bedside table has a reading light and alarm clock, and it is decorated in a style that makes it suitable for children, teenagers or adults.
  • The family bathroom has a bath with shower above, WC and handbasin.

Upstairs:

  • The open plan living/dining area is comfortably furnished with two two-seater sofas and a relaxing armchair centred around an electric "fire effect" stove. The room features a television with Freeview, exposed wooden beams and feature stone walls.
  • The dining area has a table and chairs to seat four. Being next to the French doors means it is as ideal for a casual breakfast as it is for a family dinner.
  • The modern fitted kitchen features a dishwasher, microwave, oven with grill and electric hob. There is ample work-top space for preparing meals, and lots of cupboards with a good range of cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery.
  • The owners have also provided a washing machine and tumble dryer, iron and ironing board for guest use.

Outside: The south-facing terraced garden is lovely at any time of year, with flowering beds, a bird feeder, lawn area and paved patio with garden furniture and barbecue.

Additional Information: All utilities including oil-fired central heating and electricity are included in the cost. Guests are requested to bring their own bed sheets and towels (pillows and duvets are provided) although linen hire can be arranged for a small additional charge. Short breaks are possible depending on availability. No smoking. No pets. The property is not suitable for very young children or those with limited mobility due to stone steps accessing the cottage.
