About 2 Hillview Cottage

2 Hillview Cottage sleeps up to four guests and is a pretty Grade II listed retreat that provides an ideal base for exploring the many attractions that Devon, Somerset and Dorset have to offer. Nestling within the beautiful Blackdown Hills, the semi-detached cottage is located close to the village hall and historic 15th Century church, alongside a number of pretty thatched properties in the picturesque East Devonshire village of Dalwood, which has a pub, babbling stream running through and beautiful rolling countryside all around.

The Blackdown Hills is one of the South West's more peaceful treasures and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the Devon/Somerset borders. It offers the chance to experience a slower pace of life in a tranquil setting and provides the perfect landscape for those who enjoy walking, horse riding and cycling the country lanes. An undulating landscape of steep ridges, valley bottoms, farmland and quaint villages, this unique landscape is teeming with wildlife and a pleasure to explore at any time of the year.

Nearby is Axminster, a bustling market town that is well known for its luxurious carpets and also for being the head quarters for Hugh Fearnley-Wittingstall's River Cottage Deli and Canteen (a great place for stocking up on provisions and enjoying a meal out). Also within easy reach by car is the Jurassic Coastline (a World Heritage Site) and Lyme Regis (just eight miles from the cottage) where you can spend your day relaxing or combing the beach for fossils. Featured in the Domesday Book, this historic harbour town is surrounded by beautiful scenery and home to a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants in including Hix Oyster and Fish House where you can indulge in the freshest of seafood whilst watching the sunset over the ocean.

The area offers numerous attractions including National Trust houses and gardens that are open to the public, along with plenty of opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts. Whether your passion is walking, cycling, fishing, golf, antique hunting or simply relaxing, you will not be disappointed.
