About Lodge Farm Cottage

Lodge Farm Cottage is reminiscent of a country lifestyle magazine or the backdrop of a Bronte novel, which is fitting given its location. Its centuries-old stone walls and oak beams are reassuringly solid, while the owner's choice of furniture and furnishings gives it a comfortably rustic charm. The two-bedroom property is located in Oakworth, on the edge of Haworth and sleeps three people. Ideal for couples or families with older children to enjoy a self-catering holiday in and around Haworth. Start the day with a cup of tea in the garden, looking over glorious Yorkshire countryside towards Haworth and the Worth Valley Railway, and end it on the sofa with the relaxing warmth of the log burner on your face.

Haworth is famous worldwide for the Bronte sisters, who grew up here and used the town and surrounding villages and moors as a backdrop for their novels. However, it doesn't need the Bronte association to appeal. It's exactly what you'd expect a rural Yorkshire village to be. Cobbled streets, period stone houses and lovely independent shops, cafes and pubs make it an absolute pleasure to visit, especially when paired with the warmth of the people who are justifiably proud of the area in which they live. The cottage is a five-minute stroll from an excellent cafe and less than a mile from Haworth village cobbled Main Street and the Bronte Parsonage Museum. Visit at the end of May for the fantastic 1940s weekend, or any time to enjoy the spectacular views.

The Worth Valley is one of the most dramatically beautiful places in the north of England. It's easy to see how it inspired the Bronte sisters, especially at places like Bronte Falls, Ponden Kirk, and Top Withens, the latter of which is recognisable in "Wuthering Heights". There is a considerable variety of footpaths, including the cottage being on the circular Railway Childrens walk which passes through Oakworth, Haworth and Oxenhope railway stations. The Pennine countryside is a favourite for walking and mountain biking, while its sweeping, hilly roads make it a premier choice for road cycling. Local attractions include Halifax Piece Hall, known to viewers of Gentleman Jack and the Last Tango in Halifax, Aysgarth Falls, and Malham Cove. Skipton, Harrogate, Leeds and the Yorkshire Dales National Park are also within reach for a day of shopping and sightseeing.

Lodge Farm Cottage is available all year round for holiday bookings, with short breaks possible depending on availability.

Location (Yorkshire)

Accommodation Comprises:

Lodge Farm Cottage is a period property with original features and comfort honed over the last 150 years. It is not suitable for very young children or those who use a wheelchair or walking aids due to the steep internal staircase and exterior cobbles. Accommodation is over two levels.

Downstairs:

  • Relax after a busy day of walking and sightseeing. Light the log burner, put your favourite show on the Smart TV and settle back on the leather sofa. Oak beams and mullioned windows charmingly highlight the cottage's age.
  • You may find yourself distracted by the farmland views from the window as you prepare food in the well-equipped kitchen. Appliances include an induction stove, electric oven and a slow cooker, with all appropriate equipment and utensils to cook and serve meals.
  • No one wants to do laundry on their holiday, but if you do, you'll find the washing machine and ironing in the utility area, where there is also space to hang coats and leave walking boots.
  • A family bathroom has a bath, WC and a handbasin.

Upstairs:

  • From the landing window you can enjoy views of farm land, where you may catch sight of the neighbours award winning Shire horses grazing.
  • Main bedroom, with its original oak beams has extensive views through the stone mullioned windows including the Worth Valley Railway towards Haworth, woodlands and the moors of Peniston Hill. There's a comfortable double bed, an antique chest of drawers, and a wardrobe.
  • A second room has a single bed and a chest of drawers. There are views of the old mill race and the impressively tall land mark Mill Chimney which is all that remains of the Old Lower Providence Mill from Industries of old.

Outside: The cottage has a paved area with seating to the front of the house with panoramic views, and an original cobbled area. The cottage also benefits from off street parking.

Additional Information: Utilities, WiFi, logs, bed linen and bath towels are included. The cottage is a non-smoking property. One well-behaved dog is allowed by arrangement.
