Crabtree Barn is an extremely spacious Victorian barn conversion set in the picturesque South Pennines. It's wonderfully rural - the sort of place you genuinely feel as if you're getting away from it all. Imagine craggy hills, rugged moors and spectacular views that will imprint themselves on our heart. However it's far from being isolated being only three miles from the conservation village of Ripponden and within easy reach of Hebden Bridge, Haworth, Holmfirth and Halifax. The self-catering property is a beautiful 'upside down' barn conversion sleeping four people in two ensuite bedrooms with guests enjoying a games room and an award-winning private garden surrounded by fields. If it sounds blissful, that's because it is!
You may want to spend your entire holiday relaxing in the garden or snuggled up in the living room by the log burner. If you need a proper break with no decisions and no stress, you’ll find it here. However, many visitors take advantage of the convenient location to get out and explore, making good use of footpaths, bridleways and cycling routes. Take a day to sightsee in Halifax where there is the Shibden Hall (famous from Gentleman Jack filming), Eureka! The Children’s Museum and the acclaimed Piece Hall - full of quirky independent shops and which holds gigs from international artists - in 2022 to include Pete Tong, Paloma Faith, Tom Jones and Nile Rodgers. A fabulous award-winning farm shop just 10 minutes away gives an authentically delicious taste of Yorkshire if you buy food to cook at Crabtree Barn. If you don’t feel like cooking, then there are two Michelin recommended restaurants and several country pubs in the Good Pub Guide nearby. Or travel a little further to enjoy a Yorkshire afternoon tea at Betty’s Tea Rooms in York or Harrogate.
Other places to see include the charming town of Haworth, home to the Bronte sisters with a dedicated museum in the Old Parsonage where they lived and wrote, inspired by the raw beauty of the moors and places like NT Hardcastle Crags. Hebden Bridge is another scenic spot, as is Holmfirth, which you may recognise as the backdrop when filming "Last of the Summer Wine".
Crabtree Barn is available all year round for holiday bookings. It's only ten minutes from Junctions 23 and 24 of the M62, making it convenient for day trips to York and the West Coast.
