Abbey Holiday Cottages offer a choice of three welcoming holiday cottages that sit in the pretty rural village of Middlesmoor located within easy reach of Pateley Bridge, a small market town on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Accommodating parties of up to six guests individually and larger family groups of seventeen when all three cottages are rented together, this is an ideal rural holiday retreat for a relaxing break.
Sitting in an enviable position, affording wonderful panoramic views, Middlesmoor nestles in a picturesque setting in upper Nidderdale. With its little cobbled streets, the village sits within the beauty of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is also perfectly placed for discovering the spectacular scenery of the Nidderdale Valley and surrounding attractions by car, bike or foot. Middlesmoor also has a pub in walking distance of the cottages which serves great food and a good pint of ale.
The area offers fantastic bird watching and walking opportunities with great walks along the Nidderdale Way starting from the front door. Scar House Reservoir offers lovely level walks and for those who enjoy country houses and gardens, Fountains Abbey with its medieval deer park and Brimham Rocks with intriguing rock formations are a must to visit.
Other attractions in the local area (fifteen miles radius) include: Howstean Gorge (an amazing limestone gorge where you can enjoy a host of outdoor activities including gorge walking, climbing and even a via Ferrata!); Nidderdale Museum at Pateley Bridge; Stump Cross Caverns (one of the country's premier show caves); Lightwater Valley Theme Park (a fantastic day out for the kids); Black Sheep Brewery and also Theakston Brewery which both offer tours and a visitor centre and Nidderdale Angling Club to name just a few.
A little further afield (twenty five miles) but still within easy reach are: the cathedral city of Ripon; the Prison and Police Museum and Victorian Workhouse Museum; Ripley and Knaresborough Castles; Bolton Abbey and Mother Shiptons Cave at Knaresborough.
