Markwell Farm provides a great base for discovering all of Cornwall's best bits. Located in South East Cornwall close to the village of Landrake, the extensive working farm nestles amongst some four hundred acres of glorious Cornish countryside and provides guests with a taste of country life (and plenty of fresh air!).
Offering a choice of self-catering with cottages sleeping two to six guests, Markwell Farm is suitable for couples and families. Converted from 18th Century stone barns, the cottages each afford a south-facing aspect providing fabulous views over the surrounding countryside.
Lace up your walking boots and wander around the farm, relax outside in the sunshine and spend time meeting the animals - there are plenty to see with cats, dogs, cows, sheep and even llamas wandering around the farm. Alternatively, get out and about and discover the beauty and plethora of attractions that both Cornwall and South Devon have to offer.
The Tamar Valley AONB and Bodmin Moor are both a short drive away, as is Dartmoor's stunning National Park offering miles of wonderful walks and outdoor adventures. Head to the coast and walk the South West Coastal Path taking in the amazing seascape enroute. If relaxing is more your thing, spread your beach towel out on the golden sands of Looe or Polperro, then browse the shops for holiday gifts or sample a pint of local ale by the harbour overlooking the sea. Whitsand Bay offers three miles of sand and is another popular choice, as is Seaton with its child-friendly beach (lifeguard patrolled in the summer months), pub and cafes, and Downderry with pet owners (dog-friendly all year round!).
If National Trust country houses and gardens are more your thing then visit Lanhydrock House, Anthony House, the Georgian delight of Saltram House or Cothele, full of medieval charm. It is also possible to drive to the world famous Eden Project for a day trip out and the Lost Gardens of Heligan.
Alternatively, just relax at Markwell Farm and enjoy a taste of country life.
