Hollyhocks is a proper home-away-from-home for families and friends. There is plenty of space for up to seven people to sleep in three bedrooms, and the location in the chic waterfront Cornish village of Rock is perfect for beachgoers and food lovers. The cottage is within walking distance of the beach, shops and the popular Pityme Inn pub and restaurant.
You'll know as soon as you arrive that Rock is not an average seaside village. Holiday properties here are hugely desirable, not least for the fantastic shops that keep the local supplied with freshly baked bread, gourmet cheese and fine wine. The fish at Rock fish and chips comes off fishing boats from Padstow, Rock or Port Isaac, so you know it's fresh and local.
Rock's beach is a stretch of soft white sand facing the Camel Estuary. Its calm waters make it a favourite place to swim, canoe, kayak, windsurf and sail, and the sailing club is always busy. There is a regular foot ferry that goes between Rock and Padstow during the day, and a water-taxi service that runs at night for people who fancy popping over to Rick Stein's or one of Padstow's other many excellent fine dining restaurants, for a meal and a night out. If you can't find a spot you like on Rock's mile-long beach, then just around the point is Daymer Bay which is safe for swimming and family friendly. Polzeath (surfing beach) is only two miles from the cottage and Port Isaac, Port Gaverne and Port Quin are also within easy reach.
Local attractions include the 18-mile Camel Trail which goes between Padstow and Wadebridge and across Bodmin Moor along an old railway line. Visitors can also visit stately homes such as Pencarrow House and Gardens or Prideaux Place. Enjoy the zen-like atmosphere in the Japanese Gardens at St Mawgan, clamber down the stone staircase at Tintagel, play golf, learn to surf, or simply sit in the sun with a good book. Eden project and National Trust properties by car.
The owners of Hollyhocks also own the nearby self-catering cottage, Bryher, which sleeps up to two adults and two children. Depending on availability, the properties can be rented together for two families or extended families. Please see the owner's website for more information.

Outside: The cottage has a private, enclosed garden with seating at the rear of the property, and off-street parking. There is a shed for hanging wetsuits and storing surfboards and other sporting equipment. Bikes available for guest use.
Additional Information: All utilities, WiFi and bed linen are provided. Guests to provide beach and bath towels. Short breaks are possible outside of the high season, depending on availability. Well behaved pets are welcome through prior arrangement and for a weekly surcharge. Friday changeover during peak season but flexible at other times.
