Kittiwake’s fantastic location will elevate your self-catering holiday in Cornwall from great to outstanding. Not only is the cottage a mere five-minute walk from the beach, but it is also within walking distance of shops and friendly pubs like The Sharksfin and the Harbour Tavern. There is space for up to eight people to sleep in four bedrooms, so the cottage is ideal for large or extended families and groups of friends, and with exceptional views of the headland and ocean, Kittiwake puts you in the heart of a scene that attracts visitors not only year after year, but generation after generation.
Mevagissey is one of the most popular destinations in Cornwall but, despite the number of holidaymakers who visit here in the summer, it has not lost its unique village charm. Narrow lanes wind their way to the curious twin harbour which has served fishermen as far back as the early 1300s, with today’s boats returning with pilchards, scallops and mackerel that you can buy fresh from a local fishmonger to cook at the cottage or tuck into at one of the village’s pubs and restaurants. Mevagissey is a fantastic base from which to explore the Cornish coast as not only is there a wealth of shops and amenities, but there are also boat trips (a regular ferry runs during the summer to Fowey - a great way of seeing the coastline), art galleries, an interesting museum, and attractions such as the Lost Gardens of Heligan, Eden Project, Mevagissey Aquarium, Museum and Model Railway.
You can reach a sheltered cove by walking from the cottage and down some steps. Polstreath is a mix of sand and shingle and usually is fairly quiet, even on a sunny weekend in the summer. Other nearby beaches include the long sandy stretch at Pentewan, where you can surf, paddleboard and try a sea canoe as well as swim, and the charming Gorran Haven which is almost always calm and safe for swimming. The South West Coastal Path is outside the cottage, affording walkers with incredible views as well as leading them to a wealth of wonderful beaches, or hire a bike in nearby Pentewan and explore on two wheels instead of two feet.
Cornwall is a fantastic family-friendly destination at any time of the year, and from Kittiwake you can easily reach places like the Fowey, Falmouth, Bodmin, Penzance and Tintagel in around an hour’s drive, and Land’s End in about 90 minutes. In between these places are beautiful beaches, historic towns and friendly villages, miles of walking and cycling, and the opportunity to create treasured memories.

Kittiwake is a comfortable family cottage with a fresh blue and white decor that echoes the natural beauty of its surroundings. It is on a quiet residential street with little traffic, and is opposite the headland that overlooks the ocean.

Outside: Mature landscaped gardens are a stand-out feature of this property. The front is lawn with hedges for privacy and garden furniture so you can enjoy the sun. The rear of the property has been designed for socialising with a spacious deck, rattan furniture and a gas barbecue for lazy summer meals. There is off-street parking.
Additional Information: The cottage has WiFi and central heating throughout. All utilities, bed linen, hand towels and kitchen linen are included (please bring your own towels for the bathroom and beach), and the owner can also provide a travel cot and highchair if required - please ask when booking. Pets and smoking are not permitted at Kittiwake.
