Cancleave is a contemporary clifftop holiday home in North Cornwall. The owners have used the land as a holiday destination since 1962, taking the opportunity to replace the original property with modern, energy-efficient holiday accommodation which sleeps up to eight people in four beautiful bedrooms, three with ensuites. It's next to the famous South West Coast Path in between Crackington Haven and Widemouth Bay and close to Bude, so it's perfect for a beach holiday in any season.
It isn't only the spectacular beaches that make North Cornwall a fantastic holiday destination, but the breathtaking views, historic towns and villages and friendly communities with excellent shops, restaurants and other amenities. Cancleave is in a spot designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a Site of Special Scientific Interest with nothing between you and this incredible landscape. As well as walking along the coastal path you can explore the Dizzard Dwarf Oaks, through the Millook Valley, and around the picturesque hamlet of Poundstock which dates back to the Domesday Book and has a haunted church and a sketchy history involving piracy and smuggling. Alternatively, bring or hire a bike and tackle the Camel Trail.
Bude is five miles and a ten-minute drive from Cancleave. It's so handy for grocery shopping with a choice of supermarkets (home delivery is available) and a weekly market every Friday from Easter to the end of September. Although the cottage kitchen is exceptionally well equipped, Bude and Widemouth Bay have a variety of pubs and places to eat or grab a takeaway if you don't want to cook.
Crackington Haven is three miles to the south either by road or coast path. It’s popular with locals and visitors alike for its beach, beachside cafes and excellent Coombe Barton Inn. Keep heading south, and you'll reach Boscastle, or drive half an hour to get to Tintagel. Port Quinn, Port Gaverne and Port Isaac are under 45 minutes away, and you can go to Padstow in an hour or less. Widemouth Bay and Bude are two and five miles by road respectively and both offer surf lessons, equipment hire and other outdoor activities such as stand up paddleboarding and coasteering.
Holiday bookings are available all year round, with short breaks possible outside of peak season, depending on availability.
