If you are looking to explore a pretty fishing village, but want to head slightly off the beaten track, visit Gorran Haven on the south coast. This cluster of fisherman’s cottages is nestled around a pretty sheltered bay. The two sandy beaches are a great spot for a swim or you can hire kayaks and paddleboards. If it’s too chilly to brave the sea, walk north along the coastal path to the charming fishing town of Mevagissey. You will be rewarded with breath taking sea views, wild meadows and fish and chips on the beach to refuel.
It’s not all about beaches in Cornwall! Head inland and you will find tropical gardens, wild moorland and historic houses. Discover ancient woodlands and leafy jungles at the The Lost Gardens of Heligan or immerse yourself in the magical sub-tropical paradise at Trebah Gardens.
