About Badgers Holt

Badgers Holt is a comfortable modern bungalow built in a traditional style in a classic countryside setting. The cottage is on the family-run Buller Farm, deep in the heart of Cornwall where you can go for hours without hearing a sound other than birdsong. Two bedrooms comfortably accommodate four people with a flexible layout that suits couples, families or friends. The cottage has a peaceful garden for relaxing which is regularly visited by the black-and-white badgers after who it is named (the owner puts out peanuts and eggs - take a look at the video to see one of the badgers rolling an egg!).

The cottage's location in central Cornwall means that beaches on both the east and west coast are easily accessible. In a 20-minute drive, you can reach beaches like Godrevy and Gwithian. Truro, Falmouth, Newquay and St Ives are not much further, so you can pick and choose your itinerary based on the weather or what you feel like doing that day.

Stithians Reservoir is a short drive from Badgers Holt, where activities include sailing, paddle-boarding or canoeing, try your hand at fishing for perch or walk along the five-mile footpath that passes through woodland, meadows and heath. Former mining lanes have become bike trails, and you can hire bikes locally, or book a guided horseback ride for a different perspective of the countryside. There is an extensive network of traffic-free walking and cycling routes to satisfy even the most curious of explorers.

Cornwall is enormous and full of attractions to delight even the quirkiest interest, with everything from the Land's End signpost in the south to The Eden Project in the north. There are beautiful National Trust houses and gardens, seal and monkey sanctuaries, breweries and castles. Visitors can happily sit on the beach and watch the waves crash on the shore, or they can learn to surf, cook or paint at specialist classes all over Cornwall. Take a guided tour and see the Falmouth locations used when filming the favourite BBC series, Poldark, or set sail on a boat cruise to learn about the local wildlife. There are pirate's caves and artist's studios, theme parks and cathedrals and, country pubs and Michelin-starred restaurants.

At the centre of it all, Badger's Holt welcomes guests to stay in comfort, providing a peaceful cottage with garden, ideal for visiting the areas many attractions.

Accommodation Comprises:

Badger's Holt is a stylish modern holiday cottage with accommodation all on one level. Although it is on the owner's property, an equine farm, guests enjoy privacy and peace, with lovely views and no passing traffic.

  • Step through the front door and into the entrance hallway where there is room to hang coats and leave muddy shoes.
  • Snuggle in front of the gas "real flame" fire in winter, settling back on leather sofas with your favourite drink. The sitting area also has a TV with a DVD player, and the cottage has WiFi.
  • Open plan living continues into the dining area which has sliding glass doors that open onto the sunny patio and garden at the rear of the cottage. The dining table seats four people and is conveniently next to the kitchen so that guests can sit and chat to the chef while they are preparing meals.
  • A fitted kitchen features good quality appliances including a microwave, blender and dishwasher, as well as all the plates, glasses and cooking utensils required for self-catering.
  • The master bedroom features a king-sized bed, a tall wardrobe and a wall-mounted TV.
  • Zip-link twin beds in the second bedroom are typically set up as two single beds but can be zipped together to create a 6ft super-kingsized bed if you prefer. Please let the owners know when booking.
  • Walk-in shower, bath, heated towel rail, WC and handbasin are all in a tiled family bathroom.

Outside: Badgers Holt has a sunny paved terrace at the rear of the garden with outdoor furniture and a barbecue. Steps lead from the terrace to a lawn area for playing or relaxing in the sunshine. There is also off-street parking to the side. The owner is happy to take guests to the barn to meet the horses (a big hit with younger guests!).

Additional Information: Utilities, WiFi, sheets and towels are all included in your stay. The cottage is available all year round. Pets and smoking are not permitted.
