Owl Lodge embodies the dream of a holiday in the English countryside. Sitting peacefully in 17 private acres of grounds, including woodland, meadows, a lake and a stretch of the River Fowey with fishing rights, it's one of seven highly sought-after holiday properties on Rivermead Farm. Owl Lodge sleeps six people in three bedrooms and is very family-friendly, boasting a spacious open-plan living area and beautiful valley and river views. It's a wonderful escape from noise, bustle and stress - somewhere you can spend your entire holiday without even looking at the car as well as a very comfortable base from which to explore Bodmin Moor, the stunning beaches of South Cornwall and Cornwall's many other attractions.
Rivermead Farm is halfway between and a short drive to either of the historic market towns of Bodmin and Liskeard, where there are excellent choices of places to eat, drink and shop. Follow the self-guided Heritage Trail to learn more about Liskeard's past, visit the immersive experience at Bodmin Jail, take a sightseeing train trip to Looe, or wander through the gardens at Lanhydrock. If you're feeling energetic, Bodmin has a leisure centre with an indoor swimming pool, there's the Eden Project nearby with its zip lines and there's an aqua park at Adrenaline Quarry, just along the A38. There's also the all-weather Carnglaze Caverns to explore, where there are regular music events on, and The Monkey Sanctuary isn't far away.
Staying at Owl Lodge means that you're less than half an hour's drive from some of the best beaches in the southwest. Looe, Polperro, Fowey, Carlyon and Lantic Bay are all within easy reach, as is the magnificent South West Coast Path. Bring or hire a bicycle to explore Bodmin Moor and the Camel Trail, or hire a boat or kayak and set sail on the River Fowey. There are many different boat trips out of Looe around the Eddystone lighthouse, mackerel fishing or to spot seals or puffins. Day trips can include sightseeing at Charlestown, or to Truro shopping, lunch in Plymouth, take the train to St Ives or enjoying places like Polkerris, the Lost Gardens of Heligan, and Mevagissey.
Owl Lodge is ideal for a relaxed or an adventurous holiday. There is so much to see and do within a small radius that you'll find it easy to keep everyone happy, regardless of age, interest or the season.
