Fountain Cottage is a welcoming child and pet-friendly holiday cottage on the edge of the quiet village of St Breward. Neatly sandwiched between beautiful Bodmin Moor and the stunning beaches of the north coast of Cornwall, it sleeps four people in two bedrooms and is very well equipped for your self-catering stay. You're a short walk from the village shop, newsagent, St Breward's Church and The Old Inn if you fancy a pint or a pub meal.
You'll notice many of the properties, including Fountain Cottage and the church, are made from locally quarried granite, giving it a distinctive look unique to this area. The village is close to the start of the Camel Trail. Once a railway track and now a multi-use 18-mile long path, the Camel Trail connects you to Bodmin, Wadebridge and Padstow. Other walks take you to landmarks that include Rough Tor and Brown Willy. At at least 1,300 feet above sea level, the climb isn't for the faint-hearted, though stunning panoramic views over Cornwall will reward your efforts. Closer to home (and easier on the legs) is the footpath to St Bernard's Well, where those with eye problems can leave a tribute of pins to request a cure.
Bodmin Moor is ruggedly beautiful with a rich history dating back millennia. Walk around ancient stone circles, drink in a smuggler's pub, and marvel at tall stacks of granite stones that have led to myths about giants and saints. Bodmin Jail is a great all-weather attraction. Head to Cardinham Woods with your mountain bike, or follow a stretch of the Copper Trail footpath, which covers sixty miles around Bodmin Moor. Adventurous teens will love Adrenaline Quarry where you can go karting, have fun in the aquapark or zoom along a zipwire.
The North Cornwall coast and beaches like Polzeath are around 12 miles or half an hour's drive from Fountain Cottage. Tintagel, Boscastle, Port Isaac and Tregardock are also nearby. Towns with shops, restaurants and other amenities include Bodmin, Camelford, Wadebridge, Padstow, Bude, Looe and Fowey. There are far too many sights and attractions to list here. A handful of the more popular ones are Eden Project, Pinetum Gardens, the Museum of Witchcraft in Boscastle, Tintagel Castle and the Arthurian Centre, and the National Lobster Hatchery in Padstow.
