A Secret Garden is a luxurious hideaway for couples who want the pleasure of feeling close to nature without sacrificing any of the luxuries that you find in high-quality holiday accommodation. The cottage is in private grounds in the village of Blean, within walking distance of the local pub, the Royal Oak, with lovely footpaths and cycling routes through woodland and countryside from the door. Bijou and charming, A Secret Garden is a beautiful escape for couples or solo travellers seeking peace, relaxation and something a little special from their holiday.
Blean feels delightfully quiet and rural yet is only a few miles from the cathedral city of Canterbury, one of the most ancient cities in Britain. The cathedral has been a place of pilgrimage for over a thousand years, but you don't have to be religious to appreciate its architectural and historic features. Canterbury has an excellent variety of places to eat, drink and shop, as well as museums and other places of interest. A popular way to experience all the nooks and crannies of the city is on a guided walking tour, or a self-guided tour using a map from the Visitor Information Centre at Beaney House on High Street. Canterbury is only 40-minutes from London St Pancras, making it easily commutable if you want to get away for a couple of nights.
Visitors who want a day at the seaside are just a few miles from Whitstable and within easy reach of Margate, Broadstairs, Deal and Sandwich Bay. Whether you want a calm space to relax in the sunshine or a blustery stretch of coast for a warming winter walk, you'll find precisely the type of beach you are looking for. Being close to the coast also means there are excellent opportunities to sail, and there are half-a-dozen sailing clubs within an hour's drive. If you prefer rivers then the Stour offers good paddling opportunities from Grove Ferry or how about a round of golf and make the most of having ten courses all within a 30-minute radius, including championship Royal St George's.
Kent's location beside the English Channel has meant it has played a strategic role in the nation's history. It is packed with historic forts and castles including Leeds, Hever and Dover Castles. The county has earned the moniker of the Garden of England due to its mild climate where plants thrive. Green-fingered guests should certainly take the time to wander around Sissinghurst Castle Gardens, as well as those at Godinton House and Walmer Castle.
The owners of A Secret Garden have created a truly wonderful escape stuffed full of luxurious touches, quirky charm and a truly welcoming atmosphere all year round.
