The contemporary barn conversion is in a heavenly location near the Swale Estuary, surrounded by glorious Kent countryside with fantastic walking and cycling from the door. It provides a blissful opportunity to escape the relentless grind of daily modern lives, yet this wonderful retreat is only an hour from London. The stunning property offers 4-Star Gold standard accommodation for up to 12 people in six ensuite bedrooms in the rural hamlet of Harty on the Isle of Sheppey. The owners also run the award-winning Ferry House pub a short walk from the property which has treatment rooms should you want to book a massage, and an excellent menu for a meal out.
It's hard to imagine a more charming picture of the English countryside than Harty. Apart from a 900-year-old church and an excellent pub, there is nothing to distract you from enjoying this incredible landscape, including beaches, two wetland nature reserves, fields, and farmland. An excellent way to explore is on the Isle of Harty Trail, a walking and cycling loop around the area that is mostly flat and free from traffic.
Days out can include sunning yourself at the seaside on beaches like near by Leysdown on Sea or further afield in Whitstable, Broadstairs, Margate and Ramsgate, flying kites, playing miniature golf and eating ice cream, exactly the way people have enjoyed themselves by the coast for generations. Visit museums and historic buildings that include the Minster Abbey Gatehouse, Eastchurch Aviation Museum, and Blue Town Heritage Centre. Go sailing from Chatham Maritime Marina, surfing at Minster Leas, and kayaking and kiteboarding at Barton's Point. Canterbury is under an hour's drive, with a wealth of sightseeing opportunities, shopping, eating and drinking, and Rochester with its stunning cathedral is even closer. For those happy to venture further afield, you can always cross the channel for a day in France!
The Saltings is an exceptional property with incredible architectural features and an idyllic location next to a pond. It is one of five fabulous cottages on Mocketts Farm which when booked together, can accommodate 47+ people (sofa beds and camp beds available) to make the perfect venue for a milestone celebration, corporate event or holiday with your extended family and friends.

Outside: The Saltings is next to a fenced duck pond, with grass and picnic tables nearby. There is plenty of off-street parking for guests. A separate building houses a shared games room with a pool table, table tennis and table football.
Additional information: One dog welcome by prior arrangement (two small dogs considered) - please speak to the owner. All utilities, WiFi, bed linen and bath towels are provided. Travel cots (no bedding), stairgates and high chairs are available. Short breaks are possible, depending on availability. Smoking is not permitted in any building on Mocketts Farm.
