Garlands Retreat sleeps four guests and is a spacious well presented holiday home offering a high degree of comfort and style. With its own garden for relaxing in the warmer months, Garlands Retreat is family-friendly and nicely positioned in a peaceful countryside location with pleasant views over the paddocks of the local riding school.
Located midway between the historic town of Dover with its famous Castle, and the quaint seaside town of Deal. Garlands Retreat adjoins the owner’s house and stands in their own grounds of just over one acre in the small village of Sutton-by-Dover.
The Retreat has a patio area with sun beds and barbecue and an enclosed garden. For horse lovers, Cornilo Riding Stables is a short walk offering lessons and pleasure rides.
There are an abundance of footpaths throughout the surrounding countryside including one that takes just twenty minutes to the village pub in Ripple serving very good food and ales. For those feeling a little more energetic, the Hare and Hounds in the village of Northbourne is a nice walk over the fields and provides a warm welcome with open fire, fine wines and good home-made food.
The nearby St Margaret’s Bay has a variety of places to eat as well as a fantastic view as the road winds down to the pebble beach. Alternatively, take a short drive into Deal (just ten minutes in the car) with its quaint traditional seaside charm. Deal has a good range of shops for provisions, cafes, restaurants, leisure centre, shingle beach with open air paddling pool for the little ones, golf course and pier which is a popular spot for fishing.
If you are interested in history, there are several castles to explore including the largest at Dover, as well as Deal and Walmer (regularly visited by the Queen Mother). Canterbury city centre is twenty minutes drive with its beautiful cathedral (one of the country's oldest) and superb choice of shops and places for a meal out.
You can also take a day trip across the water to France from Dover's Eastern docks (fifteen minutes away by car).
