Harrier's Nest is a holiday home where you can unwind and relax completely, enjoying welcome touches and beautiful views in a peaceful location on the Isle of Sheppey. The cottage is on Mocketts Farm near Harty, at the end of a quiet country lane and within walking distance of the award-winning Ferry House Inn and close to the coast. With its pretty wood-clad exterior and gorgeous countryside view from every window, the cottage is cosy without feeling cramped or fussy, giving guests space to spend time together or relax in peace. There is space for four people to sleep in two bedrooms, making Harrier's Nest a perfect choice for couples or families.
The pace of life on the Isle of Sheppey is certainly more laid back than on the mainland. You'll breathe more easily as soon as you cross over onto the island, which measures a bijou nine miles long and four miles wide, and is very easy to navigate. Mocketts Farm is in the tiny hamlet of Hartley, an oasis of tranquility which is almost an island within an island as it has the coast on one side and a channel with marshes on the other. Spend happy days walking and cycling around the island, admiring the stunning views over the Thames Estuary and the English Channel from the coast. The flat landscape and well-marked footpaths and cycling routes are suitable for all ages.
Your days can be spent sunning yourself in the gardens at Mocketts Farm; indulging in a long lazy lunch at the Ferry House Inn or massage in one of their treatment rooms; swimming and surfing at beaches like Leysdown-on-Sea and Minster; and watching birds and other wildlife at The Swales and Elmley Marshes national nature reserves. Within half an hour are three golf courses, horse riding, clay pigeon shooting, and attractions like the Eastchurch Aviation Museum. Maidstone is a 30-minute drive, while the fantastic shops of Bluewater are only 10-minutes further. You can get to the historic city of Canterbury in under an hour. Whatever time of the year you stay at Harrier's Nest, you'll always have an excellent choice of things to do.
