About Springhaven

Springhaven is a beachfront holiday home just steps from the sandy beach. The expansive self-catering property sleeps 11 people in five bedrooms and is perfect for big families, extended families, or close friends who don't want to be more than a short stroll from the sand. This is the sort of place where you can park the car and forget about driving for the duration of your stay. The house is just a two or three minute walk from the Ship Inn pub and only a 10-minute jaunt from the centre of Dymchurch and shops, cafes and other amenities.

Dymchurch is a traditional seaside village that has been a family favourite for generations. In addition to the vast sand Blue Flag beach, which you can access via a gate from the private green in front of the house, it has a seafront amusement park and the heritage Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Miniature Railway. Springhaven's location is not only beautiful; it's extremely convenient for a family holiday. Forget loading up the car with everything but the kitchen sink - you can spend all day, every day on the beach, popping home for an extra beach chair, a drink or if you have young children who need a nap.

Days out can include driving ten minutes to either New Romney or Hythe. These towns have a wider choice of places to eat, drink and shop. The Military Canal passes through Hythe and is a popular walking and cycling route. Alternatively, go to Port Lympne Zoo, a mile drive inland from Hythe; or drive a little further to the lively coastal town of Folkestone with a busy harbour and restaurants. A trip on the steam train to Dungeness is especially thrilling for younger guests, with everyone enjoying a walk through the nature reserve to the landmark lighthouse. Historic Canterbury and Dover are both around 45-minutes by car from Springhaven, opening up even more sights and places to eat, drink and shop. You could even pop over to Calais for the day, with the Channel Tunnel being only a 20-minute drive from the cottage.

Springhaven is fully-equipped for self-catering holidays. There is plenty of space inside and outdoors where families and friends can relax and enjoy a seaside holiday at any time of the year.

Springhaven is a spacious holiday home furnished to a high standard with stunning sea views from the house and the gardens. Accommodation is over three levels. It is on a private cul-de-sac in a quiet residential area with no passing traffic.

Ground Floor:

  • Welcoming entrance hallway with doors leading to the reception rooms, ground floor ensuite bedroom and a hallway leading to the kitchen.
  • Light-filled living room with a huge bay window and window seat, two big sofas with lots of comfortable cushions, and a 'coal effect' gas fire. This is a great space where adults can catch up over a coffee or a glass of wine.
  • Second reception room with comfortable sofas and a TV. Settle back for a relaxed evening with your favourite film, or park the kids while you get dinner ready.
  • Ground floor bedroom, ideal for those who don't like stairs, with a king size (1m50cm) bed and ensuite shower room with spacious walk in shower.
  • Sunroom leading off the TV room with garden views. Glass sliding doors open onto a private terrace and rear garden.
  • Fully-fitted kitchen very well equipped for family self-catering with a great complement of equipment, utensils, glasses, crockery and cutlery. NEFF appliances including hob, oven, microwave, warming drawer & dishwasher. And a huge Siemens fridge-freezer. French windows onto the patio with its bespoke 12 seater circular outdoor table, large gas barbecue, comfortable outdoor sofas and clever pergolas that open to let in the sunshine or close to keep out the rain.
  • Dining area across from the kitchen peninsula with a bespoke 3m long bamboo dining table that seats 10 people comfortably and 12 at a pinch.
  • Utility room with laundry and cleaning facilities.
  • Cloakroom with a WC and a handbasin.

First Floor:

  • Stairs lead from the hallway to the first-floor landing where a door opens onto a seafront balcony over the front verandah.
  • Master bedroom suite with a superking (1m80cm) bed, armoire, and a small table with chairs in front of the window that overlooks the garden and the private green. There are also bedside tables with reading lights, and proper storage. Ensuite to this bedroom is a bathroom with large bath with rainforest shower over, washbasin and loo through a separate door.
  • Second bedroom with a superking (1m80cm) four-poster bed, big bedside tables with drawers for storage and door to large ensuite with walk in shower, freestanding slipper bath, period washstand and loo.

Second Floor:

  • Double room with a king (1m60cm) bed, original wood floors, and a view so good you'll be leaping out of bed to open the curtains every morning. There's good storage and a TV.
  • Twin room with two single beds and a third pull-out bed that can be made into another superking. This room is also at the front of the house with a window overlooking the sea and the beach.
  • Shower room with a shower, WC and a handbasin.
  • Workspace with a desk and chair.

Outside: The house has a driveway with off-street parking for five cars, a level area of lawn at the front of the house, and a private enclosed garden with a spacious terrace and seating area at the rear. A large outdoor dining table seats 10-12 alongside a large gas barbecue and comfortable outdoor sofas all under two large pergolas that open to let in the sun or close to keep out the rain. There's also an outdoor beach shower - perfect after a day on the beach and an EV charger bookable via the "Bookmycharge" App.

Additional Information: Utilities, bed linen and bath towels are all provided. Guests to supply beach towels and cot bedding if required. A cot and a high chair are available - please request these when booking. Smoking and pets are not permitted. Normal check in time is 16:00 and normal check out time is 10:00 but depending on bookings the owners may be able to be flexible. During the peak months of July and August, 7 and 14 night bookings are taken with a Sunday changeover but at all other times short breaks are welcome with a flexible changeover day.
