About Anneth Lowen

Anneth Lowen roughly translates from Cornish as "happy home", which is exactly what this wonderful self-catering holiday cottage is. The detached, single-story property is in St Juliot on the North Cornwall coast and has been a holiday home for over 20 years, providing a welcoming home-away-from-home for couples, families and friends. It sleeps four people in three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a big enclosed garden and gorgeous countryside views. Even a friendly pub, the Horseshoe Inn (as seen in Doc Martin), is a five-minute walk away.

St Juliot is a peaceful parish in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty overlooking the Valency Valley. It's surrounded by the lush, fertile fields and farmland that make locally produced food and drink so good. The village is rural yet barely three miles from the coast and spectacular beaches, including Bude, Crackington Haven, Widemouth Bay, Trebarwith and Polzeath. Strangles, Tregardock and Bossiney beaches never feel busy, even in summer.

The North Cornish coast is dramatically beautiful, with craggy cliffs and sandy beaches linked by the South West Coast Path. Admire the 223-metre sheer drop of High Cliff (standing well back from the edge if you're at the top!) and the rocky shoreline leading around to Boscastle Harbour, built when Elizabeth I was on the throne. Rocky Valley and Tintagel, with the incredible ruins of Tintagel Castle, are only a short drive from the cottage. If you prefer to explore by mountain bike, you'll love having the wild trails of Bodmin Moor nearby. The traffic-free Camel Trail links Wadebridge and Padstow via an old railway line and is great for families. You're only 15 miles from Port Isaac. With convenient access to the Atlantic Highway, it's easy to reach other attractions like the Eden Project, Lanhydrock, and the Lost Gardens of Heligan.

Guests who have stayed at Anneth Lowen love how comfortable it is with all the little touches that make it feel like a home. They also appreciate the quiet location and vast choice of beaches and attractions within a few miles. It's easy to plan fun days out no matter what the weather.

Accommodation Comprises:

Anneth Lowen is a detached cottage with accommodation entirely on ground floor level.

  • A three-seater sofa and two huge armchairs provide ample room for everyone to sit and watch a film together in the living room. The cottage has good central heating, and there's an electric coal-effect fireplace in here for extra warmth in winter.
  • Efficient appliances that include a dishwasher and washing machine, and fitted cupboards stocked with equipment and utensils make the kitchen/diner a practical and welcoming place for cooking and eating. The glazed door which opens into a rear porch/utility room and Velux window ensures it is always light and airy.
  • There is a double bed, bedside tables with reading lights, and storage in the master bedroom. It has an ensuite with a shower, WC and a handbasin.
  • There are two further bedrooms, one single and one double, which are also furnished with a bedside table with reading light, and drawers for storage. Bed linen is not provided. Each bed has a good quality encased mattress, duvet and pillows left clean and fresh for guests to pop on their own linen.
  • A shower room with a large high pressure digital walk-in shower, WC and a handbasin.

The cottage is set back from the road and has a gravel driveway for private parking. The private surroundings are perfect for children to play safely and the enclosed garden means it is perfect for dogs to have a play too!
The patio next to the house has garden furniture to enjoy private alfresco dining and if you are eating out it’s just a short walk to the local Horseshoe pub which is also pet friendly and offers a garden, sells fresh eggs and does takeaways – phone your order and collect in the allocated timeslot.

Additional Information: Utilities and WiFi are provided. Guests to bring bed linen and towels. One well-behaved dog is welcome by arrangement. Smoking is not allowed.
