Tregrehan Garden Cottages, an unusual brew of Cornish history and landscape, and Kiwi hospitality, provide relaxed holidays in a magical setting of 19th Century Grade II architecture within a 20 acre woodland garden. Magnificent trees soar above the pink stone buildings, home to five fully equipped cottages sleeping 1 to 8 edging the cobbled courtyard. Open all year for short and long breaks. Arrive to a lit wood-burner during the colder months. Wood is included and natural, high quality products are used throughout. Each cottage has a private garden, some walled. Someone is on hand if needed.
The cottages are an ideal base for plants people. Spring starts early in Cornwall and Tregrehan Garden is open from mid-March, a garden of recognised merit with an extraordinary collection of trees. Most of Cornwall's ‘Great Gardens’ are in close proximity.
Within walking distance is the coastal path leading along to Crinnis beach, historic Charlestown harbour and onwards to Mevagissey. The Eden Project is just a 20 minute walk. Explore the secluded Luxulyan Valley and Helman Tor behind us, superb cycling. Kayak or walk the wooded Fowey Estuary rich in wildlife. Enjoy Lostwithiel’s independent shops, head to the Duchy Nursery for cake and tea, and meander further along the Fowey River through the idyllic landscape to the National Trust’s Lanhydrock House.
From Bodmin you can join the Camel trail and cycle to Padstow. Book the Beach Café at Watergate Bay between surfs, easy access and within a 35-minute drive. Relax in Tregrehan Garden and enjoy a game of tennis in a lovely setting.

Following extensive renovations during the winter of 2021, upgrading insulation and structural work, the ground floor of the Gamekeeper’s Cottage is a spacious open-plan kitchen, dining and living area. Two landings have been added to the stairs which lead directly into the old private Walled Garden and turn onto the first floor with bathroom, master bedroom, and twin bedroom which retains its own steps down to the walled garden. The open stairwell gives a lovely natural light to both floors. The electrics have been upgraded to office standard throughout allowing good connection to the cottage’s excellent WiFi.
The kitchen has the usual necessities plus a dishwasher, local slate worktop, sliding draws and flooring of slate and wood. A laundry is located 30 yards beyond the courtyard carriage doors. Wood is provide free from the our own woods and stacked the wood-shed opposite the cottage front entrance. First floor bathroom with overhead shower, loo and basin. A second basin is a good addition to the master bedroom.
Ideal for couples, families or 3 adults but it does sleep 4 adults. A couple only rate is available except during the high season, perfect for garden lovers to enjoy a Cornish spring or a winter break in front of the wood-burner. Ideal for your pets too with a pet proof garden and so much space to roam.
Additional information: Electricity, heating, logs, bed linen and tea towels included in the price. Cot and high chair (s) available. Garden entrance included during the open season which is spring and summer for the public and Wednesday afternoon for guests (or on request for the remainder of the year). Private parking. Garden furniture and barbeque available upon request. Dogs welcome by arrangement at an additional charge. Guests are welcome to use the tennis courts during working hours (booking is necessary). Towels available at £6 per person. There is a communal laundry room outside with washing machine. The nearest shops is one mile; the pub is half a mile away and there is an eighteen hole golf course half a mile away. Short breaks available out of the main season.
