About Lantern Cottage

Chocolate box pretty, Lantern Cottage nestles within a lush Cornish valley that winds its way down to the pretty sheltered cove of Trevaunance, St. Agnes's main beach on Cornwall's stunning north coast. Perfect for a family holiday by the sea, this pretty whitewashed thatched cottage is just 400 yards from the beach and less than a mile from the shops and eateries of St. Agnes, making it a popular choice for a holiday.

It's not just the thatched roof that gives Lantern Cottage its charm. Once through the stable door and inside there are beams on the ceiling, an impressive inglenook fireplace (housing an electric stove) and butler sink in the kitchen, sitting alongside modern day conveniences like WiFi to keep you in touch with the outside world. There are also good size gardens at both the front and rear of the property allowing you to relax outside and soak up the Cornish air during the warmer months. Enjoy alfresco dining, lazing on the lawn with a good book or simply sitting and soaking up the views of Trevaunance Cove with your morning tea from the top of the garden.

Lantern Cottage sits on the outskirts of St Agnes and is less than a mile from the village centre where you will find places for a meal out and shops for provisions. Spend your days relaxing on the sands of Trevaunance Cove or one of the other three beaches within the local area (five miles). Lace up your walking boots and set off for the day on the South West Coastal Path taking in glorious countryside and seascapes along the way. Alternatively, if you can bear to tear yourself away from the beauty that surrounds Lantern Cottage, jump in the car and visit one of the areas many attractions. The world famous Eden Project, St Ives with its galleries and picturesque harbour, Lost Gardens of Heligan, St. Michael's Mount, magical Tintagel (wrapped in myth and legend), Boscastle, the National Seal Sanctuary in Gweek, Padstow with its amazing restaurants and bustling harbour, and Lands End are all within driving distance for a day trip out.

Whether you want to simply relax on the beach, stride out along the coastal footpath or explore the areas many attractions, Lantern Cottage offers all the right ingredients for a relaxing holiday and assures a warm welcome and comfy retreat to return home to at the end of the day.

Accommodation comprises:

Ground floor

  • A stable door takes you into....
  • Cosy yet spacious sitting room with impressive inglenook fireplace housing a 'log effect' electric stove. A wooden clad ceiling with beams, big Persian rug on the floor, lamps for soft lighting and exposed stone add to the charm and are complimented by comfy leather sofas, flatscreen television, DVD player and hi-fi.
  • Dining room decorated in pastel blues and whites, giving a distinct nod in the nautical direction. A large table takes centre piece with room for six guests.
  • The kitchen is quaint with a quarry tiled floor, beams on the ceiling, butler sink, dishwasher, microwave, oven/hob, washer/dryer, fridge, freezer and good range of cupboards stocked full of everything needed for self-catering. A stable doors provides access to the rear garden.

First floor - stairs take you up to the landing

  • Master double bedroom with attractive metal bed with void drape. There is plenty of clothes storage in the wardrobe and chest of drawers.
  • Twin bedroom with solid cherry wood single beds.
  • Single bedroom with a raised fitted bed which is sure to be a hit with the children.
  • Family bathroom, with shower over the bath, wash basin and WC.

Additional information: Central heating keeps the cottage warm and cosy all year round. Well behaved dogs are accepted at an additional charge of £50 per pet, per week or short break stay. Prices include heating, bed linen, electricity and towels (please bring your own beach towels). Off-road parking for two vehicles. Children are most welcome but should you require a cot or high chair, please bring them with you as they are not provided. Short breaks available outside of peak season (two night minimum).
