Bryony Cottage sits in the tiny hamlet of Newtown on the edge of the delightful coastal town of Fowey in South Cornwall. Sleeping up to three guests, this lovely holiday cottage has immense Cornish charm and character making it ideal for couples and small families at any time of the year with beams on the ceiling and a multi-fuel stove for cosy nights in front of the fire (along with electric radiators).
Fowey is a stunning harbourside town that has a unique ancient unspoilt charm which is why visitors return year after year. With a great choice of eating establishments, lovely independent shops/boutiques, spectacular coastal scenery, small coves and golden beaches, it is little wonder that this pretty harbourside town is popular all year round. There are some fabulous walks both along the coastal path and in country, along with the opportunity to try a number of outdoor activities such as golf (at Carlyon Bay, Lanhydrock Hotel/Golf Course and Porthpean - all within easy driving distance), fishing (boat trips for sea fishing from Fowey) and sailing.
The estuary is abundant with wildlife and one of the nicest ways to explore the beautiful bustling harbour and Fowey estuary is to hire a boat (motorised) or kayak/SUP (expeditions to explore the river can be booked in Fowey). Alternatively you can discover it by guided river boat which makes regular trips from the quayside and allows you to sit back and soak up the scenery.
There are a wide range of attractions in the local area. Explore St Catherine's Castle, visit the Aquarium, Museum or MAD (mechanical art and design) Museum in the town or simply enjoy a long leisurely lunch whilst watching the boats bobbing on the water in the harbour. Mevagissey is a just a 40 minute ferry trip away (April to October). Popular times to visit Fowey are in May for the Fowey Festival of Arts and Literature which attracts people from far and wide or in August for Regatta week with lots of events including a carnival and fireworks.
The world famous Eden Project is just a short distance away, as is the Lost Gardens of Heligan. Fowey is also perfectly placed for visiting the popular Cornish attractions of Falmouth with its shops, eateries and National Maritime Museum; Padstow - much loved for its fine dining restaurants; the boating haven of Helford River which is close to Trebah Gardens and Glendurgan Gardens and the coastal town of St Mawes - just a few of the great days out within easy reach.
Also just a 5 minute drive away is Wyndham Trenython Manor, an elegant Manor House where day guests can use the spa which includes a swimming pool, steam room, sauna and jacuzzi and of course, treatments may be booked.
Enjoy a relaxing holiday in this beautiful part of South Cornwall - stunning at any time of the year.
