Bridge Cottage lets you enjoy village life in Somerset like a local. The beautiful late Victorian house was built in 1883, which is almost considered modern in a village listed in the Domesday Book! There is space for four guests in two bedrooms. The owners welcome children from the age of three, so it is ideal for couples or families. Bridge Cottage is in the middle of the pretty village of Marston Magna, and is set back from a quiet road and has a private garden and is very peaceful. The popular Marston Inn pub is a 10-minute stroll past the village hall and church, and there are some wonderful countryside walks leading from the front door.
Marston Magna is only five miles north of the vibrant market town of Yeovil. Here, there is a choice of supermarkets, as well as two train stations, great pubs and restaurants and shops. There is a market held every Tuesday and Friday where you can buy fresh and delicious local produce. Sherborne is another market town that is five miles from Bridge Cottage. Sherborne has two castles - one a picturesque ruin and the other the beautifully restored home of Sir Walter Raleigh, and an impressive Abbey.
Local attractions include Fleet Air Museum and the Haynes International Motor Museum, both ideal for adults and children. There are some wonderful National Trust properties nearby including the Treasurer’s House in Martock, Barrington Court and Montacute House. Half an hour north of Bridge Cottage, is Glastonbury Tor. This iconic landmark offers magnificent views of the Somerset Levels, Dorset, Wiltshire and Wales.
Somerset is a wonderful choice for a holiday. You can get a sense of escaping from the rat race, yet because of its excellent transport links, it is very easy to reach either by road or train. Bridge Cottage is at the heart of Somerset’s lush, green countryside and, with its comfortable interior and lovely views, is a perfect choice whether you want a short break or a longer holiday.

Bridge Cottage has a traditional layout, with the living area downstairs and bedrooms upstairs. It is a period cottage and retains characteristics typical of a house of this age, including exposed beams and thick walls.

Outside: The large south-facing garden is private and enclosed with mature shrubs, climbing plants and a patio area with garden table and chairs for alfresco meals. A glass lean-to lets you make the most of the pretty garden even on damp days. A summer house acts as a fun games room with a pool table as well as table football and a selection of games. There is secure storage for bikes, golf clubs and other equipment. There is off street parking for two cars.
Additional Information: Bridge Cottage has fully double glazed windows, with night storage/convectors heaters in all rooms. All utilities, linen, duvets, pillows, towels and tea towels are included. Short breaks are possible out of busy season depending on availability. Free WI-FI throughout. Sorry no pets and no smoking.
