About The Wool Barn

The Wool Barn is a fabulous Exmoor holiday home for multi-generational families and groups of friends. Built from local stone to store fleece on Honeymead Farm on the edge of Simonsbath and just over a mile's country walk from The Exmoor Forest pub, it has received a new lease of life as a beautiful holiday rental that sleeps eight people in four very comfortable ensuite bedrooms, with a further study/single ensuite bedroom on the ground floor. Staying here, you'll be treated to panoramic rural views from dawn until dusk, fantastic footpaths and bridleways through Exmoor National Park, and a peaceful atmosphere that will soothe your soul and give you no option but to surrender to the slower pace of country life.

Simonsbath is a pretty village in the heart of Exmoor National Park. The community is predominantly farming, with the locals' love of their land evident in its care. The flowing water of the River Barle powers a National Trust sawmill used to cut the oak for the solid gates and signs you'll see as you explore on foot or horseback. Follow the Two Moors Way south along the river to Lanacre, stopping by Cow Castle on the Honeymead Estate for a dip.

Exmoor is an outdoor adventure playground on an enormous scale. Hiking, mountain biking and horseriding are accessible all year round, with local stables and guides available to help if required. Seasonal hunting is integral to the rural way of life. Two local packs, the Exmoor Foxhounds and Devon & Somerset Staghounds, welcome mounted visitors. The owners of Honeymead Farm can introduce you to nearby stables providing livery if you want to bring your horse on holiday. Anglers can obtain a permit to fish the River Barle, a few miles away on Wimbleball Lake. Day trips can include sightseeing in Dunster, enjoying Minehead's traditional seaside attractions, and discovering the charm of coastal villages like Porlock Weir, Lynton and Lynmouth.

Accommodation Comprises:

The Wool Barn is a two-storey detached stone holiday home on a private estate. Though recently renovated, it retains the comforting air of a beloved family home.

  • An antique dresser takes pride of place in the spacious kitchen/diner. Also antique to fit with the property's age, the dining table seats ten for meals. In contrast, the modern range cooker and huge American-style fridge-freezer are definitely 21st-century features.

  • Hang coats and leave wellies in the utility room, which also has a washing machine and a tumble dryer,.

Upstairs:
