East Harwood Farm Cottage is a blissful country retreat in the heart of the Exmoor National Park. With countryside views from every window, the cottage is a relaxed 20-minute stroll from Timberscombe village and The Lion Inn pub, where the pubs log fire is as popular in the winter as the impressive choice of gins and home cooked meals. With space for up to four people to sleep in two bedrooms, East Harwood Farm Cottage is an excellent holiday home for couples, families and friends.
Timberscombe is a small but friendly community. Much of its medieval architecture remains, and it is one of the few places in the country that can boast a Grade II listed telephone box. There is certainly no shortage of beautiful countryside walks, with Dunster Castle, three miles away and managed by the National Trust, being an excellent initial destination. While walking, you may discover the local 17th-Century watermill, or cross a bridge built to take the size and weight of cart-laden pack horses. If you are visiting in February then be sure to take the time to visit Snowdrop Valley, a nearby woodland carpeted with the delicate flowers that signal the impending arrival of spring. Other favourite walks in Exmoor include Dunkery Beacon and Horner Wood, or make your way to the coast at Minehead or Porlock Weir and enjoy the beautiful waterfront views.
Exmoor National Park has a wealth of picturesque towns and villages where you can shop, eat and drink as well as browse local museums and learn about the history of the area and the people who shaped the landscape. Lynton has a hair-raising clifftop railway that has carried passengers from the coast to the clifftop for over 100 years, while Barnstaple has a fantastic Pannier Market. Visitors can take a ride on the West Somerset Railway, mountain bike, go fishing, play golf, or take a boat trip to Lundy Island in the Bristol Channel.
East Harwood Farm Cottage has been welcoming guests for over 200 years and the current owners have worked hard to ensure it remains a comfortable, relaxing place for today's visitors.
