Redway Lodge has space for up to 12 guests to sleep in four ensuite bedrooms, making it perfect for a self-catering holiday in Somerset with your family or friends. There is loads of space both indoors and outside, with views over the countryside towards the sea. The house is on the outskirts of Porlock in the Exmoor National Park, a five-minute walk to The Ship Inn and only a mile from the coast.
Porlock is a friendly village with a well-stocked village shop, welcoming pubs serving homecooked meals for lunch and dinner, and a great chip shop. Its lengthy history can be seen in the medieval church of St Dubricius as well as in the local museum which is in a 15th-Century manorial manor house. Porlock is one of the few places in the country that can boast a coffee roastery - the smell is incredible, and their bags of award-winning teas and coffees are the ideal souvenir of a wonderful holiday. More amenities, including several supermarkets and a wide range of places to eat, drink and shop are a ten-minute drive away in Minehead, where there are also both sand and shingle beaches as well as a variety of seaside entertainments.
Porlock marks the end of the long-distance Coleridge Way footpath, and there are some beautiful walks in the area. Porlock Weir and harbour is only a mile from Redway Lodge and easily reached via a gentle stroll or short bike ride if you choose not to drive. Those who enjoy a challenge can make their way to Dunkery Beacon where their efforts are rewarded with fantastic views, while Porlock Hill is closer (but still steep!) Walk along the coast to Porlock Marsh and Culbone, where you can marvel at England's smallest church, and Bossington is very pretty at any time of the year. Being in a national park means there are miles of footpaths and mountain bike routes to suit every ability.
Attractions in the Exmoor National Park include the vintage steam trains of the West Somerset Railway, the cliff railway that connects Lynton and Lynmouth, Watermouth Castle, Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park, and beautiful gardens at Greencombe and Marwood Hill. The owners of Redway Lodge have created a welcoming, family-friendly space where everyone can relax and enjoy spending time together.
