Byre Cottage is a pretty cottage in a fantastic location in the Exmoor National Park, two miles from Dulverton and the Bridge Inn pub. It is the perfect place to retreat from the noise and stress of everyday life, replacing it with panoramic views, leisurely walks and bike rides, and slow-cooked meals full of flavour. The dog-friendly cottage sleeps up to two people on one spacious bedroom so it is ideal for couples or solo travellers who want a peaceful cottage where they can unwind and relax.
Dulverton is an easy walk from Byre Cottage, following a path beside the River Barle and over the Marsh Bridge. Its shops and amenities provide everything you will need for your self-catering holiday, including fresh fish and chips for times when you don't want to cook. There are beautiful walks in the vicinity including across the iconic Tarr Steps, as well as to the Devil's Punchbowl and the Caractacus Stone. Wimbleball Lake is close, with lovely walks and bike routes around its shores and the chance to fish, sail, kayak, paddleboard and canoe. Slightly further afield but still within easy reach is Dunkery Beacon, the highest point on Exmoor, and the Valley of the Rocks with its flock of wild goats.
Sightseeing is a pleasure when you stay at Byre Cottage. Nearby attractions include the Exmoor Pony Centre and Dunster Castle. After dinner, sit in the garden and enjoy the beauty of the night sky - Exmoor is a designated Dark Sky Reserve and hosts a Dark Skies Festival every October.
Byre Cottage is one of a collection of superb holiday cottages on its site. It is entirely self-contained and private with guests having access to the shared picnic area.
